Notes:
A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously ‘moreish’. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name. The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 7%. Golden colour, not as pale and milky as other witbiers, big to moderate white head. Nice aroma and flavour of coriander, cloves and orange peel. Very drinkable, despite its higher ABV.

33cl bottle. Bb in 8 months so reasonably fresh.
Light golden clear colour. Fluffy bright white sticky foam leaving patches of lace.
Nose is classic witbier. Lemon and coriander. Some sweetness.
Mouthfeel is sweet and medium full. Strong aroma and afterburn of coriander. Citrus takes the back seat.
Too much coriander relatively speaking, as there is nothing to counterbalance it. Simplistic.

From a bottle.
A mildly hazy light orange yellow with a dense, white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is grainy with a prominent wheat note to go with a mildly sweet grain and orange peel note. Sweetish spice notes are present. The palate is similar, with an enjoyable blend of grainy wheat, mildly toasted with orange and a little sweetness. Mild spice notes are present as well. Refreshing and enjoyable.

It is always good to get good banana in a beer not made in Munchen.
Iljit's Looks also are welcome. It is good to have a semi-haze with wheat coupled with copious foam.
Smells are not prominent, but banana yeast and wheat are in there.
Tastes are a nice medley of malt and herbs, again nothing tries to dominate. All parts play nice.
Sits in my mouth soft and I don't want swallow (but I do.)
I went on the 't IJ website and they seem to be accomplished. With two taprooms (one a windmill destination) and an iconoclastic personality (even by Dutch standards), they are finding their niche. Dedicated to their craft, I hope to stop by in another visit to Amsterdam to see my people (they like bikes and trains, too.)

Found this to be a lovely witbier for summer. Cloudy yellow with white foam, it unleashes the wheat aromas with clove, banana, bubble gum, lemon, pear esters, hop spice, and biscuit into your nose. Taste is balanced, light and airy, as is the body. Led by estery yeast, taste incorporates pear, lemon, belgian yeast, banana, and candied peach. Feel other than previously mentioned is yeasty and bright.

Had in Amsterdam countless times, can't even begin to think about how many of these I downed. Really great brewery, too, pretty easy to get through when you ride the tram thingy. Just look for the windmill when you get off at the station. Super flavorful but in a natural way, soft and easy to drink. Really nice to wash down the herbal refreshments with.
