Style: Dubbel

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
After the ‘Zatte’, this is the oldest beer from Brouwerij ‘t IJ. Natte is classed as a ‘dubbel’, a Belgian category of smooth, dark beers. Because we partly use dark malt, Natte has a reddish-brown colour and a smooth, roasted flavour with earthy tones of brown sugar, nuts and plums. Completed with slightly bitter hops, this is a nicely balanced beer and one of the brewery’s classics.

Had it at Moos restaurant at Albert Cype market in Amsterdam. Nice head, great nutty aroma, caramel, hops and malt on tongue. Very nice and would certainly buy it again.

Brown reddish colour, with a two fingers head that fades to a thin layer, normal retention. Aroma of red fruits, vanilla, chocolate lqiquor, plums. Full body, sweet liquor palate and good carbonation. Taste of red fruits, rum, cocoa, vanilla.

Drank in Café Kale, Amsterdam.

A: The body is coppery to brown, being more close to cristalline than opaque but kinda mid-way between both. The head is beige with no retention nor lacing.
S: The aroma is yeasty, with some good minor sweet notes coming from the malt.
T: The taste is mostly malty and bit empty for a dubbel. I'd say that the complexity here is not near to my expectations but it's straight.
M: The body is medium to low but the bitterness is quite right.
O: First time drinking a Brouwerij'Tij. It's not a perfect dubbel, far from it, but there's room for improvement. I'll have the tripel next.

Pretty good Belgian double, not so hoppy.

Color: dark brown, chestnut, clear. Head beige.
Aroma: roasted malts, plums, touch of caramel, spices or herbs.
Taste: very much like the aroma, but here on the front face herbs, then lightly roasted malts and plums.
Gentian: clear, dry and fairly long, even slightly astringent. High saturation.

Poured into a wine glass from a 33CL bottle

A - A sludgy brown, almost zero tan head and nearly zero legs/lacing

S - banana (belgian yeast), lots of sweet malts, nice earthy hops, roasted grains, tons of terror and crisp water

T - very sweet malts, dry roasted grains, nice fruity/floral hops and a nice caramel.

M - Full bodied, nice balance, decent complexity, medium minus acidity, medium carbonation and a sweet malty/hoppy finish

D/O - This is a very simple and really nice dubbel. Nothing over the top but the flavor is perfect. Refreshing, for anytime of year, any weather and perfect to open or cellar for years to come

Final thoughts - No idea the price as it was a gift but the easy drinking flavor and nice 6.5% ABV does this beer/ale just right! Well done.

Great beer with a balance of deep roasted malts and bitter hops. Had this from the tap in Amsterdam at the source and really enjoyed with a plate of smoked sausage and cheese. It had a darker amber and chestnut color
