I first visited this place in July 2007 to see Full Wave Rectifier, and attempted to visit again this past weekend for a beer only to find that they have closed their doors.

This bar is on the main drag of Main Street near the Akron Aeros stadium. There is metered parking pretty much on all surrounding streets.

The Lime Spider has a seedy look both inside and out. It is nestled into a strip of storefronts, and once inside the place is long and dark. The bar is along the right side with some tables on the left. At the rear is a stage with an open space in front. Very dark of course, with TVs on both sides with odd visuals in loops. There is a chalkboard listing all the available beers.

As for the beers, they have a decent selection from brewers such as Rogue, GLBC, Great Divide, Stone, Three Floyds etc.

Service was pretty good, although the place was not that busy on a Friday night.

I did not have any food on my visit.

Overall I am glad I got to visit this place before they closed their doors. There are not too many places where you can see a band and get a decent brew at the same time, and now there is one less.

This is a little bar / concert venue in downtown Akron. I went specifically to see a band but was pleasantly surprised at the pretty incredible beer selection, both on tap and on the huge chalkboard above the bar. Mostly American microbrews, there are some imports, and they also tell you much of the time what the ABV% is, maybe more to explain why it's more expensive? Either way it's helpful, especially if you're driving.

It's a pretty small place, and it can get smoky, so if you like that kind of atmosphere like I do it's certainly worth checking out. The downside is some of the brews can get expensive. I think, and this was before I was as into beer as I am now, I paid 8 dollars for a pitcher of Rolling Rock, so you can imagine what the cost would be of a pitcher of Arrogant Bastard or Elliot Ness. Then again, it's a city, it's downtown, and they have quality brews, so I imagine you'd maybe expect to pay a lot.

If there are bands that I like that are playing there again I'll definitely return, and this time I'll get to specifically see the many beers I can choose from.

The Lime Spider is a bar/concert hall in downtown Akron that also happens to have a pretty good beer selection. They have a big beer menu on a chalk board behind the bar and they change around the selection on a fairly regular basis. There are over a hundred beers with a fair emphasis on American micros. A pretty cool rooftop patio is also available for eating and the variety of bands that appear shows a hip, eclectic taste. I've seen maybe four shows here and been pleasantly buzzed on Stone, Great Lakes, Cooperstown, Three Floyds, et al while enjoying good music. The HUGE downside to this place is that is so smoky that it detracts from my enjoyment of both the beer and the music. They also have some cool feature evenings with "Game Board" night and bizarre film screenings. Big long bar with semi-knowledgable staff.
