Poured from a can dated 5/26/20 into a pint glass. Hazy bright orange color with a fluffy white head- quickly receding- with some lacing. Big, tropical fruit scents of mango, pineapple, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Similar big juice bomb flavors on the palate- just a hint of hop bitterness and a solid burst of dank but super refreshing. Really smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel. Nice reminder of summer vacations in Maine!

Pours a smooth, hazy orange with fine, soft head.

Smell is juicy and strong with notes of mango, oranges, grapefruit, papaya and melon.

Taste is juicy and intense. Tons of tropical fruits, mango, melon, tangerine, grapefruit and peach with a solid bitterness and great balance. No hop burn and dangerously drinkable.

Mouthfeel is medum, soft, pillowy and well carbonated.

Overall, a terrific NE DIPA.

Thick murky yellow orange appearance much like grapefruit juice
Thin white quickly dissipating head some legging
Aroma of mango and citrus and a grassy note
Taste follows nose
Mouthfeel is smooth and lightly carbonated. For such a thick looking beer it drinks fairly light. Slight resinous bite in the finish
Overall it’s a well balanced beer and it drinks very easily for a DIPA

Had on tap. Hazy golden orange body with a finger of white foam. Hops are piney with moderate dankness, with pineapple, passion fruit, star fruit, mango, clementine, and peach aromas. Taste delivers on the fruit up front, on the sweeter end, got a hint of watermelon in there too, hops on backend are not as dank as expected from the smell but instead floral, piney, and citrusy. The middle is a little thin in between these extremes of fruit and hops. Otherwise feel is hazy, creamy and frothy.

Had a 12 oz serving at Nocturnem Draft Haus in Bangor, ME on 8-26-19 for $8.00.

Beer was served a cloudy orange with a solid white head with the original pour.

Nose was dank city! It was also fill of tropical fruits as well. Definitely the selling point on draft!

Taste was orange and mango forward over a light but ample malt base. Finish was a touch of pine and pulp mild bitterness; 5/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel was light bodied and very refreshing.

Overall a very good beer that i hope i can get my hands on a four-pack before i leave this lovely state of Maine!

SIXTEEN FL. OZ. can
Served in a stemless wine glass

This beer pours a murky yellow orange color. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.

The smell is citrusy with some tropical fruit. Grapefruit seems to standout along with mango and melon.

The taste is much like the smell. I get some dank and citrus flavors. Some tropical fruit and melon come through. The finish is grapefruit and pine.

Full bodied with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel

It is nice to have some bitterness with a NEIPA. It is almost like a juicier west coast IPA with the mouthfeel of a NEIPA.

16oz can served in a tulip. Dated 6/28/19. Brought here by my in-laws.

Pours a murky light amber with a small head. Smell is rich, dense, resinous, overripe tropical fruit.

Taste is deeply bitter. Super resinous. Tropical fruit in the background.

Mouthfeel is thick, abrasive. Overall, it's a pretty good beer.

Quite simply, a perfect example of a New England IPA made by a small, great Maine brewery. I have been lucky enough to have Flume on tap at the brewery. Get this beer!

Really great offering that just hit Boston for the first time to my knowledge. Had a pint on draft - turbid golden orange body as you’d want for the style with a nose that jumps out of the glass. Really great taste of softer stone fruit notes and more aggressive cotrus rind. A real good offering up there with other top notch ne ipas

Lovely orange hazy color. The pour revealed just a light head that quickly faded. Outstanding smell of tangerine. Taste was superb with a little dryness to balance everything out. A very nice medium body feel. Overall an excellent tasting brew. I wish this brew had more carbonation and kicked up some lingering head.

Cloudy, darker gold color. Minor head which leaves streaky lace.

The smell leans to the hop but the pale is also present.

The base of malt is brief, although the bittering hop is not excessive. The bitterness is biting, like a cross between black pepper and hot peppers. Fuller bodied with ample carbonation. The finish is surprisingly balanced.

Citrus, banana, pear tropical fruit taste.

Mild hoppy finish.

Excellent DIPA!

Canned 3 weeks ago.

L -- Milky, opaque orange body with 2.5 fingers of rocky solid white head produced with moderate pour. Some retention and minimal lacing
S -- Pineapple, orange creamsicle, lemon zest, yellow peach, booze, mango. Quite tropical
T -- Largely follows the nose, with a bit of fresh pine coming through as well. Nice hoppy oiliness, reminds me of a lot of Toppling Goliath's hoppy offerings
F -- Medium- mouthfeel, medium carb. Very restrained bitterness throughout, especially on the finish
O -- Still can't believe how many great breweries there are at Industrial Way over in Portland. Highly recommend the trip over there

Finally drinking some beer from this brewery I've seen featured plenty of times on NBS and WBAYDN? threads... I've been before, but was unable to actually visit and had to make do with the bevy of other awesome breweries in the area. Woe is me, right? Anyway, time to see what Battery Steele can do.

Pours an almost-comically hazy deep orange color with a pretty nice, long-lasting head of eggshell-white foam bearing some really solid legs. Seriously, this is so hazy it basically just looks like a solid object when poured to the very top of my glass. It's just awesome and ridiculous. I know better by now, however, than to just assume that something that looks like this will automatically be good, so I'm hoping it follows through on the crazy pour with a crazy good nose and flavor.

Smells very juicy, as expected, but there's a leafy green bitterness in there as well. This was only canned a couple weeks ago on 1/14, so it's pretty damn fresh. I'd say for an NEIPA, this might actually be in its prime now. Slight malty stickiness but it's mostly biscuity. Mango flesh, guava purée and light juicy pineapple with a slight chive note. I actually tend to appreciate this slight vegetal/weird note in beers like this, as long as it doesn't get into over-the-top territory. Glad to say it does not outweigh any of the tropical fruit notes here. Ripe stone fruit here as well with a suggestion of melon, gooseberry and kiwi. It's just a really strong bouquet of excellent fruity elements that nevertheless still seems to have a backbone. I'm totally in.

I'm immediately surprised and nearly-elated at how punchy and deftly bitter this one is, even upfront! It's really nice, chewy and semi-dense, but the mid-palate has lots of berry notes, strong tropical fleshy fruit and a slight white pepper spice to it. It's piquant and mild, but I feel like it stands out anyway. Almost reminds me of rye, in a sense. The feel is smooth and detailed, but it's not smoothie-like or thick... in fact, it drinks really nicely for an 8% DIPA. I think this strength is the sweet spot for this particular little sub-style of New England/Hazy/Juicy Pale Ale. I would love to drink this side-by-side with something like Six Seam by Idle Hands... it's kinda similar in complexity and in how layered the hop elements are. I'm really enjoying this and can't wait for the other few cans. Worth the hype and the wait, in my opinion.

Flume pours a cloudy orange with a soft, fluffy and complex head that retains excellent lacing. The smell is big pineapple, grapefruit, papaya and pine with a soft sweetness. The taste is very well balanced. Big and juicy with a nice, soft mouthfeel that finishes sweet with a hint of pine resin.

12 oz. in a stemless wine glass type thing at Baharat.

Appearance: A very opaque orange with a solid white head that sticks around.

Aroma: Fruit! Mangoes, peaches, papayas. Great tropical mix. Some pine, resin.

Taste: Very flavorful fruity, tropical IPA with a great piney finish. Mango and pineapple lead the way, but grapefruit, papaya, lemon, citrus are all there. Booze is well concealed for 8 percent.

Mouthfeel: Juicy and drinkable even at a high ABV.

Overall: Terrific DIPA. A must try for fans of the style. Find it. Nearly hangs with Dinner and Heady.

L - 2-finger offwhite head atop a burnt orange body.

S - pine, orange, cotton candy, herb.

T - lots of orange and tropical fruits (mango?), followed by a meaty taste I rarely find in ipas. Some pine, resin, a little candy sweetness. Only a touch of dank. Low bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Low booziness.

F - very soft, medium-light body with appropriate carb.

O - any beer that tastes like meat is a winner in my book.

Mostly clear orange-gold with strong effervescence and three fingers of airy, off-white head. It lasts a good while and leaves soapy lacing.

Papaya, apricot skin, a little pineapple, a little pine and a little pepper in the aroma.

Sweet tasting with much of the same flavors in the nose and a nice peppery note and a great piney, bitter aftertaste.

Light bodied for the style with very low carbonation.

I'm digging the West Coast flavors. The mouthfeel is really lackluster.

Smell- fruity smells of citrus and grapefruit, papaya

Taste- follows smell papaya, mango, grapefruit.

Feel- smooth and silky with a little dryness on the back of the tongue from the hops.

Overall this is one of the best beers if not THE BEST i’ve Ever had. WOW. If you can get your hands on this I recommend getting what you can!

T - Taste is similar to the nose with more dank resin hops light pine bitterness.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, crisp, clean.

Golden Orange Hue with minimal Lacing. Smell is muted; however, fresh fruit/rind/grass/resin creeps through. Taste follows the nose quite well....bit more soft fruit/brightness/sweetness shines through with finish of light dryness/bitterness. Very velvety beer with perfect carbonation levels & viscosity.
