Picked up a bottle at Healthy Spirits in SF last night. Meant to hang on to it a little longer, but I was too excited. I adore sours, and the idea of a lambic/Berliner Weisse mash-up is almost too exciting for words.
A: Pale, opaque yellow and pink. Fizzy head collapsing rapidly into constant effervescent tiny bubbles like sparkling lemonade.
S: Intense citrus. As will be a clear theme, it's a lot like delicious sparkling lemonade.
T: Perfect merger of German and Belgian sours. Bright tartness smacks the palate, followed by a lingering sour long after each sip. Could hang out with this all day.
M: Buzzy and fizzy sparkle. Truly dances on the tongue. Absolutely perfect feel for a beer of this style.
O: Absolutely amazing. I would drink this every day if given the opportunity. Don't miss it if you spot it in a bottle store.

Yellow with haze, standard but smaller white head. Aroma was full of tart and sour lemons.
Easily the most sour German berliner I've had. Notes of green apple accompany the lemon. Bready wheat. Would really like to see this in a 4 or 6 pack.

A: Foams up like champagne with a 1” head and then immediately disappears leaving a headless cloudy straw liquid.
S: Has a sour wheat aroma laced with lemon and fruit.
T: Very tart, almost like an effervescent lemonade with a touch of beer in it. Leaves a long lingering tart aftertaste.
F: It is very light bodied and effervescent.
O: Very tart, tasty and refreshing.

375 ml bottle poured into my FFF snifter.
A- Body is a uniformly hazy straw yellow hue. Very translucent/hazy. Pours with a massive 3 finger+ foamy, frothy, bubbly white head. The head fades completely within seconds leaving no lacing or collar.
S- The nose is soft- but definitely tart and funky. Brett is the main aspect with acidic tart citrus in the background. A hint of bready, sweet yeast also comes through.
T- Flavor is much more bold than the nose. Tartness and sour upfront with a funky brett backbone. The flavor becomes much more sour for the finish- which is rather dry with not much going on. Some sour lingers on due to its intensity upfront.
M- Mouthfeel is light and spritzy with a high level of assaulting carbonation. Very dry.
O- Overall this is a nice berliner. I'm surprised by the dryness of the body. It gives the impression of a sour champagne. The brett and the yeast are definitely more present in the nose than in the flavor and mouthfeel. This is a nice sour-but its pretty simple rather than complex. I'm definately looking for more wheat characteristics in a berliner too.
