Style: German Pilsener

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our naturally cloudy pils beer is called “Schaffner” (conductor). It is a bottom-fermented beer and has a strong hops taste. It is our recommendation for everyone who likes typical beer.

Poured out of a Growler into a half liter mug. Nice slightly hazy Zwickl with a nice spicy hop and sweet Pilsner malt in the aroma. Taste is quite continental hop forward with some yeast character. Body is fortified and smoothed by the yeast. Good Zwickl but a bit too astringent to make it an all night choice.

maybe it would be better the brewery will call it "zwickel" or "kellerbier". an unfiltered yellow pilsener with normal head that distinguishs from the german mass product in smell and taste. it's very fresh with an almost sour charakter. not unusual for micro- and homebrew pilseners in germany. slightly bitter but almost no aftertaste. quite drinkable but quite boring too.

Served on-draught at the brewery into a bierstein. Reviewed from notes.

A: Very strange for a pilsener. Hazy and cloudy like a hefweizen. Nontransparent yellow-orange. The head is two fingers, devoid of cream, of decent thickness, and of below average retention. Not appealing per se.

Sm: Lemon citrus ester hops. Grapefruit? Not good, especially for a pilsener. Artificial lemon, like faux-lemon scent urinal cakes.

T: Artificial lemon alongside barley for the body, with a foul finish. This doesn't taste anything like a pilsener. Poorly balanced and built.

Mf: Smooth and wet; par for the style but not complementary of the flavours.

Dr: Pretty typical fare price-wise, but extremely strange for the style. Nothing special here.
