A pale ale? It tastes like a mediocre lager. A bit of honey and diacetyl and a lot of grain. The drinkabilityvis correct and it's refreshing. A mediocre session alz

Appearance - Light slightly hazy amber in colour with a fizzy foam head that dies almost instantly to a heavy lace cover. Mild fizzy CO2 bubbles in the glass throughout.

Smell - Light floral tones and light malty sweetness and light hops. The overall aroma is of sweet water and biscuit.

Taste - Lightly burnt and malty flavour. Sweet, with a wheat aftertaste.

MF - Pretty good body to this one, it has a fizzy tingle as you drink from all that CO2. There is also a light linger but it is long lived.

Overall - Well balanced in flavour that is very drinkable and very tasty.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Murky muted apricot orange to amber body color, with a nice creamy bright head with little retention. Settles to a soft and small puck after a while, with a bright top. Some nice mix of color through the glass from lemon to orange, even a hint of red peach like colors as well.

Chewy smelling malts and soft fruit like quality. Kind of an estery strawberry going on, soft malt sweetness of grain, and almost a good sense of cream. Pretty solid and inviting.

Palate seems to give the goods and keeps it simple. Light bodied touch of a wet for even a pale, but real nice sweet and creamy flavors. Popsicle tasting orange, with tea like cream and sweet malt body. Chewy sensing grains almost as if it had a good wheat like component to it. Fruit small apricot and some other possible stone fruit as well just a touch.

A real nice flavorful pale ale that just gets the job done.

If you go into any Australian pub which only has the standard selection, and you see this, it's the one to go for.
A. On tap it is perhaps a little clearer than from the bottle, although that's to be expected with bottle conditioned beers. A hazy gold colour with a thin and light head - that head can get out of hand as the carbonation is outstanding.
S. The sticky-sweet smell of the original pale ale takes be back to my teenage years and hence I personally dont think very much of it - although I know its fine. Sweetness from the malts comes first, and that unmistakable pride of ringwood floral note makes me want to gag. I hold it back. Yeast is stronger from the bottle than on tap.
T. The difference between tap and bottle is again the strenght of the yeast flavour, and the bitterness is enhanced with the additional carbonation of the bottle variety. Maltyness is very balanced with those vile pride of ringwood hops. Don't get me wrong, I love a bitter beer, but those hops man, I can only associate them with the kinds of teenage behaviour that one regrets having done, or for that matter not done. I'm sure friends in the states feel similar with bud lite or perhaps corona. In this case however, its a mixture of the taste of by all means a fine beer with a pavlovian conditioned reaction.
M. The carbonation tickles the tongue a lot more in the bottle than on tap, yet it still feels creamy - or if you perfer - slimy. Those hops linger on with more tenacity than they ought to, but so does the sweet malty back of mouth.
O. Coopers Original Pale Ale is one of the better standard beers that is readily avalible across Australia, however, their Sparkling Ale and Best Extra Stout are the nicer drops.

This was my favourite beer from my time in Australia. Pours a hazy pale orange which sparkles, small foamy white head. Aromas of lemon and malt. Tastes of light sweet malt, a citrus & fruity aftertaste. Some light yeast qualities coming through from the bottle conditioning. Very much a Aussie session ale, one to drink when your having a few.
