On-tap at Big Bear Mountain Brewery

A: The pour is a deep dark brown that borders on black with a thin off-white head.

S: Nose is quite sweet with some burnt sugar, coffee, licorice, and dark chocolate coming through. Nothing really doppelbock about it, more like a porter, but actually pretty good.

T: A nice caramel sweetness along with some toffee and burnt sugar. Some hints of chocolate and licorice as well as a nice roasted malt flavor.

M: The body is medium to full with a real sticky chewy texture and a moderate carbonation.

D: Wow, a good beer from these guys. Again, this isn't much like any other doppelbock, but it's really quite enjoyable. I'd stick with this beer if you find yourself at this brewery.

I bought a growler to take home when i was up there snowboarding... I cracked it open that night.

Poured a very deep deep clear mohogany port brown with reddish hues and a khaki colored head that was on the thin side. Aromatic scents of roasted malts and toast. I think i smelled the grains being milled.
Taste was a rich rounded blend of tasted malts and toast bread melded with sweetness, cocoa and ending on a light bitter note. Medium bodied, smooth on the tongue, nicely carbnated and just pleasant to drink. this is the perfect drink to enjoy by the fireplace.

Pours a dark opaque brown with a 1 inch tan head that fades to a small cap. Very decent ring lacing on the drink down. Smells of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is the same as the nose but very watery. Somewhat flat and watery in the mouth. This beer was the best of what I sampled at the brewery but overall it's still bad.
