Poured from 750 mL bottle into tulip. Bottled Jan 27, 2017.
A: Pours a light coppery hue with 1/2 frothy white head with decent retention.
S: Potent mix of juniper, gin, and hops. Nothing subtle about this one! Hops skew toward pine and citrus.
T: Soft woody note with caramel malt hits first...surprising given the aroma. Then the pine and citrus hops emerge. Hints of herbal notes and tropical fruit too. Eventually the juniper and gin pop up closer to the finish and into the finish. It all comes together quite well! With warming, the tropical fruit note becomes more apparent.
M: Surprisingly soft and supple feel. Eventually the hop notes emerge and it turns toward a drier and moderately bitter side. Hints of sweetness throughout. Mild to moderate alcohol burn...well controlled. Lingers and matures nicely on the palate too with more of the juniper and gin notes evolving.
D: I was intrigued by the description and it certainly didn't disappoint. A solid brew hitting all the expected notes and with a surprisingly nice mouthfeel. Check it out!
