12 oz. Can

Poured into a tulip a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden orangy color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which also leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a nice little citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), slight pine. The taste is hoppy, malty, nice little citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), slight pine. Medium body, ABV hidden nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew.

Poured a light amber color and a TON of whitish foam. It was just too much, took forever for it to die down.
Taste was terrible, didn't taste like an IPA at all.
I can't say that maybe, just maybe, this bier was a bad bottle. I won't take the chance on another though......

Pours a clear light amber color with a thin foamy head. Head retention is minimal. Lacing is mild. Earthy, dank aroma with slight citrus. Has a very bitter taste all the way through but is somewhat watered down. A very small amount of grapefruit but is earthy and dank. It is possible this is an older can, but who knows when you don't put a date on it. I usually do not buy IPAs without a bottled or canned date. I made an exception for some reason, and I regret it. Light bodied with moderate to heavy carbonation.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Semi-clear copper colored body, cream head recedes to a fine mist on top with light random vertical paths of lacing.

Aroma: Citrus and pine.

Taste: Really heavy on the pine up front, bitter. Grapefruit rind as well.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and dry.

Overall: Perhaps too simple, too bitter. I don't know. Pine and grapefruit. There.

Poured from the 12 oz can in the Colorado mixed 12-pack. Easily the least tasty of the dozen different beers. Pale yellow brew with plenty of foam. Watery body, but at 6.7% you wouldn't call it a "session" beer. Some lemony aromatics, a brief taste of light malt, then drowned in the resiny and just plain bitter hop-like wash.

The first sip is OK, but then the bitterness starts to gnaw. Strangely sweet and then aspirin bitter. I don't know what's going on here, but in a less sophisticated operation I'd say they were just using hops from the Clearance section of the Bob's Hops website.

12oz can - ok, I get who 'Magnus' is, but what the hell is a 'hookiebobb'? His genus?

This beer pours a mostly clear, medium golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some roiling seawave lace around the glass as it evenly sinks away.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, some wayward son yeastiness, further toasted cereal notes, ethereal domestic citrus rind, and equally tame leafy, weedy, and dead floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, a lesser bready and biscuity caramel sweetness, indistinct local and tropical citrus esters, a thankfully fading yeasty character, and some more assertive herbal, leafy, and grassy verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-challenging frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with a wee airy creaminess settling in once things settle down a bit here. It finishes off-dry, the biscuity malt and noble-seeming hops carrying the day - cheerio!

Overall - yeah, if this one had billed itself as an ESB (the name even sounds like silly British), instead of the inane 'balanced', we'd be good to go here. As it stands, this is a very weak IPA, especially by American standards, whatever part of the union you're from.

This is just horrible, live IPAs, but this does not taste like one, bought a sixpack, managed to drink two, then stopped torturing myself. My wife had one sip and hated it too. Never again.

Can from ABV.

A clear light orange with a thin but dense white head, this looks solid. The nose is rather mediocre. Grainy, chalky mildly caramel like, a little bit of dull honey and spent grain, some citrus. The palate is dull and lifeless with dull malt, a weird mineral note, an overcarbonated spritzy feel and a strange hop character, mildly bitter, mildly aspirin like and not particularly fruity or flavorful. Drying, mildly garlicy/bitter on the finish, this beer is light in body are rather disappointing.

Hookiebobb seems to foment an adversarial relationship between malt and hops. Perhaps my expectations colored my experience, but I was anticipating something slightly more bitter and hop forward. Not to say this beer is subpar. On the contrary, this ale of the India pale variety is slightly above par. A somewhat unique IPA that I would not necessarily go out of my way to repurchase.

So I know I'm supposed to get very in depth with this one but I won't. I've been on a huge Colorado brewery IPA kick lately and tried this one in a sample pack from crazy mountain. It smelled crisp and clean and not too skunky all of which is odd to me from an ipa but totally pleasant. The taste that I got was literally peanuts. I know, I eat it, that's weird- but it tasted like a salted peanut shell from a baseball game. It had a somewhat acrid aftertaste. Will definitely finish the rest but not likely purchase again in the foreseeable future as it was very meh.

This was a very good IPA, with notes of lemon. The beer pours a nice orange-yellow with decent lacing. I bought a single from my local grocery store -- first time drinking anything from this brewery.

12oz can served in a tulip. Purchased in Hill City, SD, driven back to Denver, flown home. Some kind of dating is printed on the bottom, but it's unreadably printed over the bottom crown.

Pours hazy yellow with a slight amber tinge, smallish white head and medium carbonation. Smell is old hay, grain husks.

Taste is odd. Some vague sweetness, what I usually call honeysuckle, but less clearly honeysuckle. More of the grain husk flavor, and a sort of sour/bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is dry and thick. Overall, it's an OK IPA.

Poured from can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange amber color with a one finger head of billowy white foam. The head has a great level of retention very slowly fading to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is huge of tropical fruit smells with tons of tangerine and pineapple along with a good showing of a more melon like sweetness of cantaloupe and honeydew. Along with these smells are some lighter bready smells as well as a bit of a pine and grapefruit hop, giving a very nice inviting smell overall.
Taste - The taste begins with a bready and doughy taste with just hint of tropical fruit and melon sweetness. As the taste moves forward hop flavors of a grassy and citrus nature come to the tongue with the tropical flavors losing ground. While much of the fruity sweet tropical flavors fade from the tongue, the grapefruit hop really picks it up toward the end of the taste, leaving one with a somewhat malty and grapefruity but balanced hop taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is slightly thicker and chewier with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the mix of hop, not overly sweet, and rather bready tastes of the brew the feel is quite nice and creates a great mouth coating feel.
Overall – A rather nice and tasty IPA. Nothing super exceptional in the world of IPA’s, but it does have a nice blend of malt and hop which makes for an enjoyable brew overall. One to try if you get a chance.

Pours a hazy amber. White head recedes to a collar and laces the glass. Aroma smells stanky, like not in a good way. Smells a bit like dung. The taste is heavily malty and tastes like the elements popped. Not very good at all. Malt, cocoa, oxidation. Full body. Yuck, this was a drainpour in my house. Avoid if you can, bad.

A - Wow this piss colored IPA is not what I expected especially after having their extremely dark pale ale. Even the carbonation is underwhelming at just a 1/4 inch it settles to some pretty decent lacing.
S - Pretty standard IPA very mild herbal hop with some citrus pine zest and some cracker malts.
T - Earthy hops surprisingly balanced as advertised with a lingering bitterness in the finish.
M - Medium bodied not as crisp as I wanted yet not hard to pound.

Overall its definitely better than the pale ale yet not enough to merit a repeat purchase very average and forgettable.

Pours from the can a lovely clear gold with a creamy white head that fades fairly fast.
The aroma is floral and citrus with some candied fruit and pineapple.
The taste is citrus and pine with a lingering, pithy bitterness. A bit chewy with a touch of crackery sweetness. A bit of an unpleasant aftertaste on this man's tongue.
Mouthfeel is medium and crisp.

Pours a hazy, golden color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of piney hops, resin-y hops, sweet malt, slight alcohol, and a hint of earthy malt. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of earthy malt, sweet malt, slight piney hops, slight resin, citrus hops, and slight alcohol. Overall, good appearance, strong aroma and body, and good feel.

Clear gold with a medium head that did not leave much lacing. Nose is classic c-hops,but lacks any pop...a bit dull. Taste in s better, with a good resin-citrus mix. Overall, not bad, but just an okay IPA in a crowded market.

Golden, clear, carbonated, and capped with a medium white head. This brew is a hoppy, drinkable, beer. The smell has plenty of resiny, pine and slightly citric hops. Some peppery spice as well. The taste is drier than expected, with some earth and anchoring bitterness. Full in body and enjoyable.

Hookiebobb is in my top 5 IPA list. The pour is light and clean with a bright almost pilsner color. It comes on smooth with a lively malt taste and finishes well will with a light floral and semi (very semi) bitter taste.

The HookieBobb is ok....its more English ipa leaning. It poured a hazy light copper with white head that left a spotty lace. The scent had taste were dominated by more bitter like hops. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it was fine....worth a shot....absolutely.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a golden color with a one finger white foamy head that quickly dissipated. A film of lacing stuck around the glass in a cohesive glossy way.
The smell started off with some orange zest running into some light citrusy tones.
The flavor copies the smell in a mainly sweet sort of way. Orange zest and citrusy tones combine in the aftertaste and finish.
The mouthfeel was fairly balanced between the sweet and the bitter, but wasn't exactly as balanced as I had hoped for. I'd say it was about light bodied and the carbonation felt right allowing the normal bitterness of an AIPA to hit appropriately.
Overall, its a decent AIPA for the most part, but nothing special.

Deep gold in color and there some very fine sediment causing this beer to be lightly hazy. There's a fingernail to half inch thick in the middle lightly tan head. The aroma is a slightly unusual orange zest hop note. The taste closely mimics the aroma with a citrus hop burn that really lingers throughout the palate. There is some light malt that puts up some resistance late in the back of the palate. The body is a tad thin and yet still lightly sticky.

Poured a gorgeous clear amber body with golden highlights and two fingers of bubbly white head. Overall impression of appearance is of a perfect IPA. Scents of grapefruit peel, pine resin, dirty, earthy, herbal hops, moderate floral hops, lemon zest, spicy hop aromas at moderate levels and a touch of pale malt. Overall impression of aroma is of a nice IPA, true to style, with a nice aroma profile from the West Coast. Not amazing but quite nice. Flavor begins highly bitter, with notes of pine resin, herbal hops, dirty, earthy, weedy, dank hops, and a bit of grapefruit peel. Middle continues these flavors but adds a slight bit of pale malt. Finish is dry with notes of pine resin, floral hops and herbal hops, with some dank, vegetal hops supporting at high levels of bitterness. Aftertaste is dry with notes of herbal, dank, vegetal and piney hops at high levels. Overall impression of flavor is of a very hoppy IPA, extremely so, with nice notes of pine, citrus and vegetal mingling. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a sticky, resinous, drying feel and moderate carbonation. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a good IPA, not bad. Overall this is a good IPA, deep in flavor and aroma with a wide variety of rich hop flavors and a rich, bitter flavor. A very nice IPA.
