Imperial Stout with vanilla and cinnamon.
Based on the stout from Murder, this variant is aged on Madagascar vanilla and cinnamon.

batch 3, delicious. i have avoided a lot of these due to their price in cans, but i could not resist this on tap. the vanilla and cinnamon are natural, bold, and well done, they play together incredibly well over this expansive canvass of espresso, licorice, and dark chocolate achieved by the malt base, and there is a nice smoothness to this, even for its strength, no bourbon barrel necessary. i think the alcohol is actually pretty well hidden too, and i am surprised by its relative lack of sweetness, these tend to run a little diabetic, but this might not even have lactose in it, nice! some good bitterness from the deepest depths of the roast to offset a hint of brown sugar and milk chocolate that is here, and its more of a warming coffee vibe that prevails, nice with the natural vanilla bean, decadent and luxurious, cinnamon is behind it but just by a little, more savory than spicy, slightly desserty, but elegantly placed i think. everything from fudge brownie to horchata as it comes up in temperature a bit, never too much alcohol. hands down the best beer i have had from bombastic to date, stood up well to some much bigger names in this style category, and i will be a little more liberal with my buying of their stuff moving forward after this. super good!

Like drinking liquid pipe tobacco, even if the idea of that may sound disgusting.
It looks & feels like cola, and is the smoothest 10% ABV+ beer you’ll ever have.

Light carbonation with an above average body. Has a slick, thick, creamy feel to it which makes for an overall great feel
Aroma is black coffee, cinnamon, roasted malt, cream
Taste is cinnamon, bkack coffee, roasted malt, dark roasted coffee beans, milk sugar.
Overall it is an excellent beer, mildly sweet with the cinnamon being done to just the right amount. Would definitely get this again.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a half finger high dense light tan head that gradually died down and left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of cinnamon are present in the nose along with notes of vanilla.
T: The taste follows the smell and has lots of flavors of cinnamon and vanilla, which prominently stand out in front of the underlying stout.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is dryness in the finish.
O: I really enjoyed the cinnamon and vanilla in this stout; these seemed to lighten up the beer so it wasn't as heavy on the palate as I would have expected for a beer that is 10% abv.
Serving type: can

Fantastic 16oz can (batch #2) poured into a pint nonic; dark & dense opaque pour with a mocha-colored head; fantastic nose with delicious notes of cakey vanilla and milk chocolate pouring out of the glass, with impressions of cake spices, cinnamon; more of the same on the palate, smooth vanilla and cocoa, fudgy caramel...dessert to a ‘T’ without being cloying. Mouthfeel is rich and thick. Decadent beer without being too sweet, which is much appreciated.

Bottle from brewery. Opens without a pop or hiss, pours out dark brown, some bubbles from the pour, tiniest of beige ring. Aroma is French toast and cinnamon. Taste is more of the vanilla and cinnamon, a bit more prominent than in the aroma. Mildly sweet. Some savory notes linger. Oily body.

11 January 2020 - Beer #5
Price: $16.99 on Tavour
Appearance: 4 - mostly black with a nearly white head, definitely reddish at the edges. As you know by now, I prefer black black with a darker head.
Nose: 4 - absolutely nothing except cinnamon. Cinnamon smells nice, but I get no vanilla and no roasted malt.
Taste: 3 - same as the nose. Nothing but cinnamon. It's barely beer. Better than a light lager, but not much.
Mouth: 4 - coating but a bit thin. Sticks around, but I'm not sure I want it to.
Overall: 4 - I guess if they were going for a cinnamon beverage with alcohol. They nailed it. Looked and smelled decent, which kept it from 3 territory, which is difficult for a craft beer to crack.
Cheers!

Cinnamon was way over the top for me, couldn’t finish the bottle. A little more balance would improve this imo.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a thin film of khaki bubbles dissipating to sparse patches with sparse lacing. Aroms of dark toasted malt, cinnamon and a hint of cocoa; mild. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, coffee, cinnamon, light vanilla. Finishes with light char, coffee beans and cinnamon with light hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess, nice mouth feel. An interesting variant on an imperial stout, with somewhat less malt depth and a light touch of cinnamon and vanilla. It starts out lighter than expected, but flavors develop into a good imperial stout finish with a pleasant touch of char and cinnamon; a good combination. Aroma is surprisingly light, but the flavor is more assertive. The malt is not robust enough to warrant the Russian imperial stout style, but as an American imperial stout, it is very satisfying. Good introduction to this brewery.

Pours near black with a creamy tan head with good retention and lacing. Aroma is dark roast with vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. Taste is similar with the cinnamon taking more of a lead role. Medium bodied and smooth with mild alcohol heat.

On tap at Enoteca for the release party. Pours inky black with a thin collar of foam. Aroma is cinnamon, tobacco/leather, licorice, vanilla, raisin. Tastes sweet, savory, lightly bitter, with flavors matching the aroma; a bit boozy, but not over the top. Slightly thin maybe, a bit oily, carbonation is pretty low. Great flavors and a nice aroma here, but would be better a little fuller with a bit more carbonation.
