Damm S.A. “Turia Märzen”
25 cl brown glass bottle coded “08/24 L011815” and sampled on 29/11/23

Notes via stream of consciousness: The body is a beautifully clear deep amber but the head didn’t hold at all, and I know I’ve got a beer clean glass as I’ve just used it with great results. In the nose I’m getting a pleasant, lightly sweetish and toasty maltiness with some very minor hops in the background. The flavor follows, fuller of course, with a bit more tastiness and grainy character, and a subtle note of apple-like fruitiness. A median bitterness balances it nicely and it finishes dry and toasty with some minor herbal hop character lingering shortly. I wish that the head retention and lacing were better but even with a good swirl of the glass it comes up and then drops back down leaving very little beyond a few spots of lacing here and there. In the mouth it’s medium bodied on the lighter end and gently crisp and then smooth. I find it quite pleasant, enjoyable, and refreshing.

nowhere near as robust as the voll damm, both in body and in alcohol, not so toasted and dense, not so intensely flavored, and while i liked that one for being bold, i like this one for being more approachable and sessionable, although they come from the same company and play in the same space, they are really distinctively different brews. this has a lighter amber color to it, more brassy looking, with a decent head from the tap with fine retention and lots of rising bubbles. it smells and tastes about the same, not as rich as it looks on the grain side, hints of almond and toasted bread to the nose, a little more concentrated grain character in the taste, an almost german note to the malt, especially with some lager yeast taste in the mix, very earthy, surprisingly dry, and with some slightly floral hops on the back end its rather dynamic, way lighter than it looks to drink on. its still a little hearty, but more in taste than feel, almost nutritious to me, a cereal character to the malt, even granola, and this paired well with both hard green salty olives and oily spicy shrimp, its well grounded and balanced, finishes with some bitterness and some bready lager yeast character, but also stays crisp to me, especially for its color, good water chemistry underneath it all and excellent carbonation in draft form. a bit of a different beer here, more flavorful but without compromising drinkability, an excellent lunchtime quaff.

Bought at Mercadona in Langreo (Asturias, Spain). 33 cl bottle poured into a small mug.

-Pours a dark amber colour with a very thin foam head that disappears fairly quickly.
-Not a lot of smell.
-Sweet and rough taste.
-Carbonation can be felt all over the beer and it is nice.

It is a nice beer.

Picked this one up on a whim while traveling in Costa Rica. The beer has quite a nice malt profile with lots of toasted malt, a light breadiness, and some brown sugar or cola in there as well. Light in body, this was a good change-up. I'm not sure I'd seek it out in another setting, but here it was a welcome find.

Cerveza de cuerpo ligero y de carbonatación media. En su aroma distingue la malta y en boca se hace presente nuevamente la malta, un poco de caramelo y un sabor tostado al final. Una buena opción entre cervezas populares.

250ml as a gift from Valencia:
Quite a sweet beer as expected, the taste in particularly was dominated by sweet malts & caramel with some toasted flavours following on behind. The beer was definitely a basic & mass-produced one but an enjoyable one to try as a one-off at least with some subtle grassy hops showing at times & the odd  bit of bitterness nearer the end too.
