Gluten-free (less than 6 ppm), but made using barley malt!

This "premium" Spanish lager pours a clean, clear, and attractive golden, with a fine 2-finger white head. Lace is attractive fence-row-style, too.

Nose is malty and adjunct. I get corn. Not good.

Tastes overly sweet and adjunct, too. To me, this is little better than the major lagers out there. Didn't know it was gluten-free, but I can't get past the generic taste. No, thanks.

330 ml bottle, as Estrella Damm Daura, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.4%. Suitable for coeliacs. Pale golden colour, big to moderate head. Sweetish aroma, not unpleasant though, notes of fruit and maize. The flavour is fairly sweet and fruity, with tolerable hops. Not too bad.

Clear gold body with a large white head and decent lacing. Muted aroma. A bit vegetal at first but not off-putting. A late whiff brings to mind a German pilsner. Grainy, modestly sweet taste that kept any bitterness at arms length. A hint of spiciness in the aftertaste. Light-to-medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel.

Umm, it’s ok - as in it’s not bad. And I guess I really wasn’t expecting much in the first place. Kind of like that one time I was in Buffalo and pulled a waitress at a chicken wing bar… Well, you get the picture.

Peace.

L: Pours a pale golden yellow with a nice tall white head with good retention.
S: Smells of sweet grains, floral hops, grassy, bready, faint corn aroma.
T: Follows the nose, sweeter than I expected. Not a super high ABV, but you can taste the alcohol on the end.
F: Medium-bodied, crisp, smooth, crushable.
O: Not a bad beer by any means! It is balanced & I would by it again.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. A pillowy white head drops slowly with mild lacing. Color is golden with moderate streaming carbonation. Aroma of grain husks and grassy hops. Mouthfeel is light and frothy with a dry finish. Flavor of toasted grain, cracker, grassy and floral hops. Overall: very good.

DATE: September 18, 2020... OCCASION: watching Cobra Kai with the family... GLASSWARE: Warsteiner pokal... I spied this at Bottle King and had to try it, considering it is on almost every GF beer list I've seen--although I am leery of bees who adorn their labels with beer festival award winners... this pours a sharp golden body that builds a thick white, two-finger snow white head with a steady upswing of bubbles... it smears into clouds that turn to wisps... in the glass, a pretty beautiful beer... a perfumed, aromatic aroma introduces itself, with corn, sugary sweetness, and soft noble hops that round this into a surprisingly non-abrasive experience... the oiliness is a bit of detractor, and the finish is beefy and malty, but the middle is crisp, pleasantly drinkable, and approximates the thinness of mass-produced pale lagers... its corn and toasted oats are front and center, with some nuttiness and pear, light earthiness and a subdued candied sweetness... I was surprised by this beer's agreeable nature--really, who expects a gluten-reduced beer from Spain?--and it doesn't fill you up... on the negative side, it is oily and rather benign in flavor... this is a solid go-to for Celiacs if the desire is a long evening of drinking....

Bleh. It is just an okay Pale Lager. I cannot say anything really positive about it, it is just ordinary in all aspects. It pours well and looks good, but there is really nothing memorable about the taste. Again, it is an okay beer and I would drink it again if it was given to me, but I would not seek it out.
