16oz can, a new offering, from the Golden State to the, er, currently white Province of Alberta.

This beer pours a clear, bright bronzed amber hue, with two fingers of bubbly, tightly foamy pale beige head, which leaves some nice multi-tiered limestone cliff lace around the glass as it steadily sinks away.

It smells of bittersweet, muddled tropical fruit, a bit more pedestrian orange and grapefruit flesh, robustly grainy rye bread, further herbal, floral hops, and a whiff of acrid alcohol. The taste is more somewhat bitter grapefruit, musty orange, a bit of pine tips, some caramel-tinged bready malt, the rye quite hard to discern at this juncture, a bit of untethered meaty essence, a few nips of metallic booze, and loitering weedy, herbal hops.

The bubbles are a tad sassy, but play nice at the same rate, the body a wavering medium weight, a wee bit pithy, and starting offer smooth. It finishes off-dry, the fruitiness still well in play, the malt still mostly caramel and German bread oriented, and the bitterness trying in vain to reach for that top shelf.

An agreeable enough IPA, overall, however, the rye base causes confusion, more than anything, as the spicy, earthy character one might expect from employment of this grain actually manifests in a kludgy mishmash of malt flavours. This calls into question the performance of the hops, by unfair association, but they are quite beyond reproach, even if the malt unfortunately masks this way too often. Worth a try, but I don't think I'll be hitting this one up again.

Horrific stuff. Not an IPA. Not anything like a good beer. Not buying again and wish I could have my $5 back. You have been warned. The nose on this garbage was the first hint that it would be bad. But how bad? Aweful, sweet, malt in your face, foamy, thick and nasty = NOT AN IPA! No hops aroma nor flavor. Just syrupy sweet and disgusting. 2 sips and down the drain it went - some truly disgusting liquid. This place cannot stay in business with a horrible product such as this.
One of the worst I have ever tasted.
UPDATE: As of 10/26/2019 - this still is the reigning champ. There are some close contenders...but I still remember the horrors of this...
UPDATE: As of 04/29/2020 - YIKES! The horror of the memory is just too much! Yipe yipe yipe yipe...
UPDATE: As of 01/15/2021 - this stuff is still the lowest form of swill...I would rather lick the bottom of a dog's tennis shoe as a hobby than to even have to smell this putrid concoction.
I need EVEN LOWER SCORE over-ride Scotty...I need it NOW!

Not sure of the age of this one as there is no best by or born on date. I can't quite remember which business trip I bought this on either so it could be 2-4 months from when I acquired it. When I opened the can beer started to foam out of the top. When I poured it three quarters of the glass was foam despite my best pouring efforts. I came back a few minutes later and poured more in. After several minutes I'm now looking and a glass that's two thirds beer with an inch of very frothy beige to brown head. The color of the beer is copper and there's a moderate haziness. I'm definitely smelling rye, but not hops. I'm tasting a very rye forward beer that has grassy hops in the back of the palate. The mouth is a bit gritty and chalky.

Amber colored ipa, substantial head over 1". Holy crap this aroma reeks of problems. A mixture of day old refuse left in the sun, grapefruit, crystal malt, and pine.

Off sour notes, heavy infected wood notes. There is no way this is going according to plan. While the bomber is relatively inexpensive, what a turn off. Old butter notes, bitterness, soapy.

Pours a pale yellow gold with virtually no head. Aroma of malty rye; taste follows nose with just a trace of bitterness. A bit on the thin side...though quite enjoyable.
