Notes from 2017:

Thoroughly hazed, naturally, utterly orange, with a prodigious, fluffy, lace-leaving white head. Looking great for the part.

In the nose: bright, brilliant, aburst with sunshine-y Citra hop sensations. The key to this beer is the extra dry-hopping with that do-no-wrong duo of Citra and Mosaic. Alone, they do just fine, but together they're unstoppable.

In the mouth: there's that "juicy" that's essential in the NE-style. Juicy, juicy, Joo-say! Bitterness garbs the palate just a bit at first, then is swallowed up by the juice. Touches of tropical meets the citric. Guava and passionfruit to bridge the orange and grapefruit. Malt is almost an afterthought. What we have going on in the mouthfeel is plush, yeasty, pillowy, squishy. Makes the beer go down mighty fine.

It's a tasty one, that's for sure. An admirable and absolutely likable brew. I might be turning around on these NE-IPAs, maybe, possibly, don't quote me on that. I still like them old time IPAs.

The more I drink it, the more I want to call it damned delicious. And maybe I will.

Although, it would be nice if folks could get it together: New England or Northeast, pick one and stick to it. Maybe that will happen. No one could settle Black IPA vs. Black Ale vs Cascadian Dark Ale, and before you know it, no one cares.

the orange color of this thing is like what you dream about beer looking like when you were a kid. its just so refreshing in appearance you instantly want to crush it. look around the brewery and everyone is asking which beer THAT is. thats when you know you nailed the color.

feel of this on your tongue doesnt surprise at all after seeing what it looks like. perfectly sweet that covers up the super bitterness of an ipa but not to the point of it tasting like a juice or cider. These are so unbelievably easy to drink its almost stupid. enjoyed the first one of these and then slammed 5 of these before a minnesota wild game and stumbled to the arena. I had to go back on other days to try their other beers because i couldn't order anything else that first day. incredible.

Had on tap. Sat down at the bar at the brewery and asked the bartender what the beer would be the most barrel theory experience. Without a second of hesitation she said this one. Looks like dark orange juice with white foam and lacing. Super fruit in the nose: pineapple, huge peach, orange, grapefruit, lime, mango, and passion fruit. I mean its citra and mosaic hopped, it going to be a good, the combo never fails. Taste took all of those flavors from the smell, plus melon and some light biscuit malts, and made a juicy and super easy drinking neipa. Super fresh, juicy, and creamy. Next thing I knew my glass was empty! Could take some more of the hop bitters to give a bigger finish, but I'm being picky

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a crowler on November 3, 2018. Dry hopped Northeast style IPA brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops. Notes of ripe tropical fruit.

Well clouded orange appearance. Proper New England haze. Aromas of sweet dinner rolls, and over ripe tropical fruits. Think mango, guava, papaya, etc. lucious mouthfeel. Light bittering, almost sweet, but it has a citric acidity that helps cut through the malt. Dangerously crushable considering its strength, and truly one of my favorite local IPAs.

Appearance: Pours cloudy and honey colored with a thick, though smallish, head; good retention and a lacing champ

Smell: Strong graham cracker aromatics that buttress the peach, persimmon and pear fruit tones; hints of passionfruit and berries

Taste: Nicely balanced combination of the graham cracker aspect that moderates from start to finish with the fruit tones; in the forefront are the peach, persimmon and pear, with the passionfruit adding bitterness, through the middle; a touch of berry, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A different approach to an NE IPA here, as it is not as juicy as many and has an enticing malt profile

Thanks, Vidblain, for the opportunity

I received a crowler from @vidblain in a BIF box. Crowler dated 9/10/2018. Poured into a Barrel Theory mug. It pours a turbid, dirty apricot color with a half finger of foamy, bright white head and lots of foamy lacing. I could smell it the moment I popped the top. The nose is a fragrant blend of tangerine, lemon, peach, cantaloupe, and subtle floral hops. It's ridiculously tasty! The fruit is front and center with tangerine and melon notes, along with lemon and grapefruit. There is also a touch of lactose/vanilla that adds both sweetness, creaminess, and a bready feel. I really enjoy a blend of Mosaic and Citra hops and here it's outstanding. It's highly flavorful and bitter but without a strong bite. The bitterness complements the sweet fruit perfectly. This ale has a delightfully creamy mouth feel with pleasant carbonation, and 7.5% is an ideal ABV; it gives it character but doesn't distract from the drinking. Overall, this is an absolutely sensational New England IPA. They just don't get much better than this!

L: hazy gold pour kicks up a 2" off-white cap with good retention

S: Melon, citrus and citrus rind aromas lift from the glass

T: Citrus, tangerine, and fruit rind lead the flavors supported by biscuit, pie crust and a mild sweetness. Big bitter finish.

F: very creamy with a medium body and medium carbonation

O: a very flavorful beer with depth and balance

Looks like a welches banana-orange juice from concentrate that I used to drink as a kid. Doesn't smell too much different either to be honest.

Taste is papaya all day. Lots of pineapple. Zero bitterness until the very end you get a slight bite.

Mouth feel is more carbonated than most neipa style ipas I've had.

Overall it's absurdly drinkable.

Pours hazy yellow beer, minimal malt in the bill for sure. Flavor is solid, rich dry hop flavor with minimal malt or bitterness. However it definitely lacks the body of a true Northeast IPA, low-medium body at best
