Appearance: Gold/orange tint. Hazy, white fluffy head with excellent retention.

Aroma: Citrus - Oranges, tangerines; black pepper. No malt.

Flavor & Aftertaste: Citrus and peppery. Restrained bitterness. Low malt sweetness.

Mouth-feel: Medium bodied. Dry. Low palate carbonation. Medium length finish. No lingering bitterness.

A very good example of Hazy Double IPA. Very juicy. Strata and Cashmere hops give citrus and peppery aromas and flavors. Visually, it produces a great, lengthy head. Looks like you are drinking orange juice. Very little bitterness. Nice silky mouth feel. I'll admit, hazy IPA's are not really my scene; but this one is well worth seeking out. No. 10 in this very popular rotating DIPA series from the Atlanta area brewery.

L: A deep gold haze with a two finger ivory head setting down to a thick and long lasting cap with moderate lacing.

S: Starts with a blast of grapefruit and pine, fades to melon, plum, tangerine, and biscuit.

T: Follows the nose with more melon and citrus.

F: Medium weight with a lactose feel and moderate carbonation.

O: Last I enjoyed was volume 6, and this one outdoes that with it's increased melon and complexity.

12oz canned 12/14/19. Opened 1-11-20.
1/2" dense and bold white head. Good retention, slowly falls and leaves behind the beginnings of an appealing lace pattern. Completely opaque/hazy orange-gold Double IPA.
Oranges, pineapple, ripe melon on the fruit side. Wet weeds and a hint of B.O. on the non-fruit side.
Fruit salad up front with coconut and some woodsy, herbal notes mingling in and really enhancing the flavor. Orange, pineapple, melon and a orange cream soda like finish.
Full body, round and soft bitterness except for a citrus peel flash towards the end.
Very good. Drinkability is super high. My second beer from Wild Leap and both have been excellent.

I miss the hint of pine that vol 9 had to offer, but this is still great tasting, smooth, and easy to drink. Lots of flavor up front and at the finish.

Poured in a Bells snifter from a can picked up at Sprayberry Bottle Shop Dec 2019

The culmination of 9 very good dipa is one superlative version in Volume 10. WOW. This is it. The 10th edition with strata & cashmere renders a dull, almost 'brown' orange turning yellow (-the ideal color profile of a hazy being a mustard yellow).

Whereas previous Alphas are so filled with over-ripe stone fruit your pallet burns, the flavor profile with X leans more toward slight funk, biscuit, and melon.

Seek this out while it'ss still around!

12oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 13.99/ 6 pack. Canned 12/9/19. Served in a Wild Leap teku. Enjoyed 12/18/19.

Pours an opaque dull orange with a dense near-white head. The foam settles, leaving behind a ring, surface retention and some pretty strands of lacing.

Hoppy aromas of citrus, melon and cake rise from the glass. It has a distinct “fresh IPA” vibrancy that I enjoy.

I’m admittedly not familiar with Strata hops but I can definitely detect the Cashmere in the flavor. Honeydew, stone fruit, berry, oranges and some cakey sweet malt. The alcohol slips past unnoticed among the sweet juiciness.

Silky smooth medium feel with moderate carbonation. Peaches, melon, citrus and berry-like hop character all contribute to an aftertaste that I really enjoy.

Over the past year and a half Wild Leap has become my favorite local producer of IPAs, largely due to their rotating Alpha Abstraction series. Vol 10 blends Strata and Cashmere hops to create one of my favorite entries to the lineup. Particularly once the initial chill subsides, I love those stone fruit and berry notes. 2019 has seen several fantastic brews from Wild Leap so I’m looking forward to seeing what 2020 brings.
