Went to Beachland Ballroom & Tavern for the Spice Girls Tribute Band Concert on April 7th 2023 and had an awful experience. My friends and I felt unwelcome, disrespected and unsafe. I would not recomend this venue to anyone.

Another patron purposefully dumped her drink on my friend and after the bouncer was called over (by an unrelated group of people who witnessed the unprompted assault), absolutely nothing was done to remedy the situation. The bouncer did not escort the violent, belligerent woman out of the venue. Instead, he kept saying, "She's VIP, what do you want me to do about it?" So, apparently, at the Beachland Ballroom, VIP entitles you to assualt others.

The female bartender was extremely rude to my friends & me. She ignored us, used a cruel tone of voice when interacting with us and was confused by simple requests (ex. to split a check).

I have visited this place many times but most recently was with my brother Peter Sept. 28 to see the musical act Laura Viers, one of his favorites. Being a BA from greater Cleveland I saw that the Beachland was established as a Beerfly place a few years ago and frankly I was surprised. I did not recall that it was a necessarily BA centric place although the music is always good and sometimes it is great!

Atmoshphere. Right side of the place is an acoustic stage with seating for about 40 people and room for no more than 100. Left side is the "big stage" where probably 400-500 could watch a bigger and louder act. As far as the beer, there is a lengthy bar on the right side of the place with 4 taps and a bottle fridge with standard bottles and cans with a few craft options. I will say that it is quite comfortable there. 3.5

Quality. In regards to the beer (the reason that you are reading this) the quality is just average. They serve on tap beer in the appropriate pint glasses and offer a glass for the bottles and cans but so does about 50 places between there and my house so nothing special there. 3.0

Service. Again, pretty standard. The bartender took my order, filled it and I gave him a few bucks for his trouble. Nothing remarkable here. 3.0

Selection. Just a bit above average. The taps were:
1. Great Lakes Octoberfest
2. Bell's Two Hearted Ale
3. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
4. A fourth one that I could not recall.

Bottles were Gennessee, BMC, A few Bell's choices (including the cool Oarsman by the way), Victory Prima Pils. All of that is pretty standard for any bar around here. I will bump the score the slightest bit for having the very drinkable, sessionable Two Hearted on tap. 3.5

Food. Actually looked quite good but I did not have any so I will not provide a rating.

Value. Just fine. My Two Hearted on tap was $5.50 and my brother's Genny Cream Ale 20 ounce can was $3. No news here.

The Beachland is really a music venue that has a bar attached with an OK bottle list despite the number of bottles, and a few taps. Seeing music here has always been hit and miss. The main room is a giant cube that if only half full or less causes some reverberation issues. The smaller bar gets too loud for the acoustic performers I have gone to see there, making that also a bit awkward. I'd be surprised if anyone actually goes here to have a beer, so the staff is not a knowledgeable bunch about craft stuff. It's OK for what it is.

The Beachland Ballroom is a cozy concert venue east of downtown Cleveland. It's not a place you go to strictly as a beer destination. It's a place to see a band, and happens to carry a pretty solid variety of beers. In the ballroom, the bar is in a room to the right of the stage.

The ballroom is a cube-shaped room that's about the size of a two bay truck garage. There are a few pics hanging on the walls as a nod to the building's beginnings as a the Croation Liberty Home. Beyond that, it's a very spartan room. No chairs, stools, or tables; just a shelf along the wall and an opening to the stage.

The beer list is more than 50 bottles (and cans) deep. It ranges from cans of blatz to bottles of Great Lakes. Again, I'm going to say this isn't a destination for beer, but there's good beer at the destination.

My girl friend’s little sister’s band played a show here while I was in town so I had the opportunity to check the place out and have a few brews.

Selection/Quality: 4 taps – SN, Hoegarden, Eliot Ness, and some macro. Bottles – all the Great Lakes beers, including seasonal/limited releases, Brooklyn IPA, a bunch of weird lagers from various Ohio/Penn breweries, some crazy Croatian beer I had never heard of, $3 pint cans of PBR…nothing terribly exciting but a fairly wide array for a dingy music venue in what I’m told is a less than stellar neighborhood.

Service: Really outstanding. I spent a long time talking with Tony the bartender before the show. He had previously worked as a wine rep. for a number of years and had an exceptional knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor. Otherwise, he was really on top of things. I never had to wait long for a brew and I enjoyed our conversations about Cleveland and music.

Atmosphere: There are two sides to this place. I spent most of the night in the dark, dingy, dank side of the joint where the bar is located. The room was just one long rectangle with a couple tables and a bar along one wall. A small stage lined another wall. The night I was there I saw a local teen punk band, a garage rock band from Milwaukee, and some lesbian Le Tigre wanna be rockers from Vancouver. I could tell from the posters that there are a lot of alt country, rockabilly, punk, and alt rock shows at this joint. I liked the place very well and felt laid back and comfortable the whole time.

The other, considerably larger ballroom hosted a hip hop show the same night. Some of the performers were exceptional so I spent a lot of time over there. The crowd was pretty monochromatic but I didn’t receive the same kind of harassment I usually get hit with at similar shows in Madison or Milwaukee. That was another major plus for the place. I also noticed that the Ballroom hosts a vintage record and clothing store. I didn’t bother to do any shopping but I think that it’s pretty neat to be able to pick up an Edmund Fitzgerald at the bar and then browse old vinyl.

Not a destination for beer but if a band you like is playing here, you’ll definitely be able to find a few beers to enjoy during the show.

The Beachland is a concert venue in Cleveland. It is located east of downtown Cleveland, not north as was stated in a previous review of this establishment. If you go north of downtown Cleveland you'll end up in Lake Erie. Anyways the Beachland is in sort of an odd location. The first time I went there I found it a bit difficult to find. It is located in Collinwood, an eastside neighborhood of the city of Cleveland. This place is a great venue for catching live music. Lots of good indie rock and prog rock band play there on a regular basis along with some heavy metal, punk, and hillbilly/bluegrass/rockabilly type bands too. The beer selection is surprisingly good for a concert venue. Great Lakes, Steinlager, Mackeson, PBR, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Samuel Smiths, Rolling Rock, Youngs, etc. can all be found there. This place seems a little more pricey than most other bars I have been too. I paid either $4.00 of $4.50, can't remember which, for a Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold one time. A little pricey for a beer that's brewed here in Cleveland and being sold here in Cleveland. Don't recall ever seeing Great Lakes cost that much at any other bar around Cleveland that I have been too. I have never tried the food there but I have heard it is pretty decent. I wouldn't recommend going here just to get a beer but they have a pretty good selection if you want to get a beer next time you are at a concert there.

Travelled here to see the Supersuckers. Beachland Ballroom is off Waterloo Rd north of downtown Cleveland. First of all be very wary of internet map directions because this place is tricky to find that way. Just remember it runs parellel to 71 on the WEST side of the highway so cross over to that side as soon as you exit. There should be street parking somewhere close.

The area is not very safe as evidenced by the number of police cars cruising around, however the place is pretty well kept-up from the outside. On the inside, the venue is open and spacious with the stage on the far end. The bar is found through a door in the rear right, and being setup that way allows some of the sound coming from the stage to be filtered out. The bar has a great mix of breweriana and old movie memorabilia on the walls. It is also pretty cramped but the bartenders keep up well.

There are no draught beers available here, however there is a decent selection in bottles. Quite a few choices from GLBC, as well as Anchor, Sierra Nevada, and lesser-known macros. Also a decent selection of imports like Paulaner, Sam Smiths and a few European beers that you don't see often.

The service was pretty good, although I imagine during a packed show they would have trouble keeping up.

I didn't have any food and I'm not sure if they offer anything beside snacks.

All in all this is a pretty good concert venue and the beer selection is better than most places where the focus is on live music. However I would not recommend a visit just for the beer.

The Best May 23, 2005
"The best LIVE music club since the Smilin Dog Saloon. (The 70's club on W.25th St that Roger owned)

The Beachland has the best beer selection, music diversity and 2 rooms ta boot. The Ballroom is great for those that can stand and rock and the Tavern for those that have to sit to roll.

You don't go for the food but you can get a great plate of bar grub for a few bucks more $4-7. Service is what service is, sometimes good, often times not, so relax.

The atmosphere is "old School" Cleveland, it rocks and it's great because it ain't downtown!

If you haven't been yet check out the website and see whos coming to town. http://www.beachlandballroom.com/.

And while you're there eat, drink and be responsible Peace"

This is a previous review I did on another web site.
The bottled beer selection is very good. From Ballentine Ale with the anagram tops and Straubs from PA. to Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout!!!

I've been to shows at both the ballroom and the tavern, though I imagine this review relates more to the tavern, since I'm pretty sure that's where the beer comes from. I've seen some great acts at this place, especially John Vanderslice, Destroyer, and Calexico, be it the tavern or the ballroom.

The tavern's small, and it's pretty much a small bar with a stage, the kind of place I love. Smoky, loud, lots of people (this describes the tavern, though the ballroom is roomier, has a stage, and is... well... a ballroom). I wouldn't have a show any other way. They have a lot of good micros and imports, and a plentiful supply of Great Lakes, thankfully.

Like many show spots, you're probably not going to go here to just have a drink, unless you feel like some music and you don't mind shelling out some cash for a possible needle in the hay if you don't happen to know the band.

One of my favorite places, along the the Grog Shop, to see a show in Cleveland. And yes, they compliment it all with the good brews you can buy also.

I went to this club to see Pedro the Lion. I expected the usually...hipsters and scenesters drinking 16 or 24 oz. cans of PBR. Well, I saw some of that. But also, they had offerings from Stone, Youngs, Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, and some very obscure European imports. I had a few pub draft cans of Youngs...Oatmeal Stout and Double Chocolate Stout. Those were nice treats. The service was great...I was tipping and most of the scenesters were paying for their PBR and leaving no tips...so my service was priority.

There were two bars...one was quiet and away from the show. The other was close to the stage and a little louder. Both bars had the same beer and equal service. I didn't try any food. Nice place.

While a student in Cleveland, I frequented the Beachland Ballroom for my live music fix. It?s an old Croation dance hall that has been converted into a rock and jazz club. It's easily my favorite small venue in the city. The building often hosts two concerts a night, one in the larger ballroom and the other in the tavern, which I have never visited. Both venues share the kitchen, and I assume have similar beer selections. There's only four taps, but they aren't really crap. The bottle selection is much more diverse than would be expected in Cleveland's club scene. It is primarily domestic micros, but there is a reasonable selection of imports. I never tried the food, so I won't comment on it. It never seemed popular in the Ballroom, but might sell well to the tavern.
