Cloudy medium straw color. Effervescent but weak/short-lived head, with some lacing. Smell is sort of generic "beery" smell.

Taste is odd... an initial hit of undefined sourness that quickly fades, with not much to replace it. A very slight hop bitterness, that again is sort of undefined, and a rather strong yeasty taste, the overall sense is just sort of bland.

The mouthfeel is medium, with a bit of body and a little bit of oiliness, and a bit of a Japanese-style snap to it. This is really the only thing about the beer that's above average.

Meh; while it's not actively offensive, I won't bother buying it again. [This brewery's bitters are better, if you like the English taste.]

Cloudy, very pale straw with light head and a lot of bubbles rising up the sides. Looks like a carbonated lemonade. It smells like peanuts. Taste is very malty, with a chalky finish. The mouthfeel is not very carbonated, and slick but thin. Drinkability is limited by the too-strong nutty characteristic of this one. Probably a good beer if its your style, its just not mine.

A great white gold color with swirling currents of carbonation, this beer is a good-looking one. The nose diminishes very slowly, stopping almost at about 3 cm above the liquid (is this a science experiment?). Intense lacing ensues. Pouring out the bottle into a glass, there is substantial sediment, making the beer quite cloudy (should I have decanted it?!?!). Off the fluffy head, there's a nice subtle yeasty sweet smell which changes into an almost pungently sweet smell afterwards.

In the mouth, the beer is smooth (where did all that carbonation go?), a little too smooth in fact. A little watery, lacking in characterizing features. In the mouth, there are some interesting floral hops, but faint hops and a little alcoholly in the throat. This beer definitely looks better than it tastes. I recall Kamakura's other beers being better than this one.

330 mL brown glass bottle, capped, stamped "best freshness by" 03.07.29 . Purchased in Kamakura, Japan. 515 Yen.

This pale ale poured a slightly hazy, straw color with towering, fizzy, white foam that clung to the glass a bit. The smell was sweet malt with a hint of hops. The taste was dominated by malt, but with some grain (wheat?) type flavor, a hint of fruity hops, especially in the finish. (This tasted like a lager.) The mouthfeel was fairly thin bodied with medium carbonation. The drinkability was OK, but not very memorable.
