473ml can - these guys just pick the coolest names for their offerings, IMHO, and I'm not even a comic book geek.

This beer pours a very dark, orange cola-highlighted brown colour, with three chubby fingers of puffy, rocky, and chunky tan head, which leaves some splendid thickly webbed lace around the glass as it slowly seeps away.

It smells of roasted and crackery caramel malt, artisanal coffee grounds, bitter cocoa powder, a hint of lactose, faint black stone fruit, and some understated earthy, musty, and floral noble hops. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, some free-agent char, medium baker's chocolate, ethereal cafe-au-lait, subtle bruised plums and cherries, and more well laid-back earthy, weedy, and musty floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly low-key in its palate-coating frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with just a touch of ashiness getting partially stuck in my teeth. It finishes off-dry, just, as the malt contends with that lingering smokiness.

Overall - this is a pleasant enough porter, with the roastiness factor most prominent, which works quite well on a cold December evening, wishing that I had a roaring fire to sip this in front of. Ah well, central heating will just have to do the trick.

Appearance - Pours a dark cola brown with two fingers of fizzy tan head.

Smell - roasted malts, coffee bean (espresso bean), vanilla, earthy hops, and cocoa nib.

Taste - Roasted malts quickly followed by the coffee bean (espresso bean). The earthy hops and cocoa nib follow suit. Very earthy flavours overall.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth with the roasted malts, coffee bean, and earthy hops lingering.

Overall - A well executed porter from the folks at Zero Issue. I like the earthy and roasty flavours this brew delivers which made this a standout and enjoyable brew at the same time.
