Light copper as it purs, when it settles a dark amber..dont ask but its true. Malty, hoppy and rather tasty. Left me with an aftertaste that i dod not like. Not usual for an Amber but oh well. Tasted like supped up Tacoma brew to me. Not impressed. Average Amber with a cool name.

A century ago Engine House No.9’s bar served as a stable for active duty fire horses. If you look up from the main dining area, the names of these hard working beasts are still displayed above the stalls they once occupied. Though “Barney”, “Joe” and “Nip” are long gone, “Rowdy” and “Dick” are memorialized with this amber ale.

Rowdy Dick is English in its disposition. The bittering is familiar and, well…almost rowdy. It’s at least a bit edgy and hasn’t been weakened to appease popular American tastes. (Thank goodness.) It is unfiltered, medium bodied, and emits a mildly punky yeasted aroma. It is neither sweet nor especially chewy.

The beer pours a bright copper color with a light head. The beer starts with a sweet almost bubble gum smell that is very appealing. It has a sweet well blended flavor of malts and hops. It goes down smooth and creamy and finishes very well. This is definitely a drinkable beer.
