Impressive large white head. Settles with an extreme dome. Leaves extensive spots for lace. Light gold color and clear.
Creamy, very pale malt aroma. Low hop smell--not very floral or bitter.
This is a rather dry and mildly sour Pils. More malty than hoppy. There is a crispness that one would expect from the style. It doesn't have smoothness nor the floral flavors I've come to expect from a Czech Pils. Still, it is a good beer for people who like dry lagers with a low bitterness.

"Best by 6/2012"! Okay, the head is very thin and slightly off-white. Appearance is mango-orange-gold, with lots of larger and smaller, tan yeast chunks, bubble streams, and minimal lacing. Aroma is of extremely ripe fruit and malt, and the taste is of brown tea, baking pears, malt, some building hop bitterness, and and subtle spice. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Slappmutske (Night Cap) Dry-Hopped Lager finishes crisp and fruity. Overall, I found this to be about the oddest "malt liquor" lager I've ever sampled. One to try, but try to get one that's not 3.75 years past the best-by date.

So, who ever said that dry-hopping was only reserved for IPA? With the high aroma technique at their disposal, no tactic is off limits from Belgian brewers who wish to capture the floral, fruity glory from hops.
But like any lager, the pale straw body casts a cottony head to retain and emit the flowery scent of those delicate cones. Added floral character captivates the nose with a tease of honeysuckle and confectioner's sweetness. With an undertow of grain sweetness and wafer-thin malt flavor, a soft and supported upstart is an easy invitation.
With is malt body trailing, the middle blooms with lingering floral sweetness. But a balance of spicy hop bitterness, a pleasant grassy bite and an uptick of sulfury-fruity flavor to deliver a lemon, apple and orange zest roundness.
Fullish for pilsner, the beer's proud body and full flavor certainly crispens in its finish, but not without any sacrifice of flavor- its grain-derived tannin, vegetative hop bitterness and dried citrus finish is nearly as rustic in memory as it is experimental.

Undated 330ml bottle says 5.3% ABV, served in a lager glass.
Poured a hazy golden-amber with a large and moderately durable off-white head. Lots of sticky lacing left on the glass, and a layer of dark sediment left stuck to the bottom of the bottle.
Plenty of sweet malts in the flavor, but enough hops to nearly balance these. Tastes rather like a dry-hopped amber.
Medium body with a smooth feel and fine, soft, medium carbonation.
O: a solid beer that doesn't really fit in the pilsner category.
