Poured from a can into an IPA glass.
L: clear amber color with 1/2 inch head leaving a solid ring of lacing.
S: piney, grapefruit
T: very much like the smell. Finishes on the drier side with residual bitterness
F: medium bodied good carbonation
O: almost a textbook West coast IPA with 7.2% ABV. One of my local favorites of this style.

Turning to to eleven is easier when you've got the power. Gravely has such power as it applies to hops. Their classic West-Coast IPA is powerfully bitter to hit any high note that you'd want.
Power Chord gets going with a deep golden pour and a stark white, foamy cap. As a pronounced scent of citrus, herb, pine and a hint of tropical fruit round the nose, a botanical sense of citronella come about. But its sweeter upstart points toward the malts and its light honey, cracker and agave sweetness carries a slight granola tone.
But once on the middle palate, the focus quickly switches back to the hops. Thwarting any notion of sweeter malt influences, the hops soon dominate with the bold citrusy complement of white grapefruit, orange and orange peel, and a hint of lemon. Subtle nuances of pineapple come in a dehydrated form before the hops turn to bitterness. Closing with a strong herbal balance, the late palate is chocked full of pine resins, fresh grasses and herbs and a spicy hemp-like dryness.
Medium-light on the palate, the beer finishes crisp and refreshing, and without the associated astringency of most drier IPA, leaving it cleaner than most. A long and smooth bitterness adds to a high sense of refreshment in a classic but calm IPA balance.

I've had this on draft a couple of times from local establishments. Once it was surprisingly bland, but I know that was either an old supply or polluted line because it's been excellent elsewhere. The bland pour was from a place that I've had trouble with before. It is slightly boozy, but the hop flavor is first rate when it is good.
