I visited Buggs Island Brewing a couple months ago while exploring around southern Virginia. It’s a neat spot in a touristy town, with a very beach-themed taproom and big outdoor patio overlooking the lake. The brewhouse is adjacent to the taproom, which I always like to see. It was very busy on a Saturday at lunchtime, but they have an outdoor bar station which helps a bit; service was prompt considering the crowds.
There were 9 beers on tap on my visit, plus a hard seltzer. Styles included porter, nut brown ale, amber ale, Kölsch, two pale ales, and three different IPAs. The beers I had were decent enough, if unexceptional. I had the catfish bites with remoulade for lunch which was pretty tasty; overall I wouldn’t call this a top beer destination but they’ve got good food and a view/patio that can’t be beat.
