Picked up growler just prior to closing of Captain Pabst Pilot House. Fantastic beer and appreciate the opportunity to try. Excellent color, smell is good and test/feel is excellent. Smooth start with medium hops to finish for great tasting beer that is doesn't have an overbearing hop finish that the kids seem to like with all the IPAs out there. Would love to see this generally available (even an annual limited run would be appreciated).
Very excited to the see the Pabst brewhouse in Milwaukee brewing this again. Apparently refined from the historic recipe. Poured from a 32 can purchased at the brewery by a great friend about a month ago. Just got my hands on it last weekend.
This is excellent. Helles lager characteristics. The Pils malt really shines through on this. Sweet and malty...grainy...honeyed...biscuits....Minimal hop backing...just a a touch of spicy hops on the finish.
I have no idea how close to the original Andeker this is but in comparison to its rival back then Michelob now there is no comparison. All Andeker. Wonderful malty helles lager.
