A long, narrow place. High-ceilinged. At least a couple TVs.
Six beers on tap, all Ohio beers. A large selection of bottles/cans, again with a good representation of Ohio beers, but also a lot of good beers "from away."
Very good vegan burger.
Excellent service.

Flatiron is located in the Arena District right across from the convention center. There is some pay street parking and a small lot for Flatiron customers (limited times).

The building is wedge-shaped and and narrow. Inside, the bar/kitchen is in front with seating in the rear. Black and white checkerboard flooring and wine-related art is on the walls.

The beer selection is small but definitely geared toward craft beer. On draught one can get Bell's, Guinness, Bass and the like. As for bottles, they have selections from Columbus Brewing, GLBC, Sierra Nevada, Sam Smith and others.

The service here is pretty good. The server was familiar with the beer selection and was attentive. She also made good food recommendations.

As for the food, it is pricey but very good with nice presentation. The BBQ chicken sandwich and catfish special were both winners, and the Sweet & Hot fries (with cheese, vinegar and red pepper flakes) are killer.

Being somewhat close to Barley's, Elevator, Gordon Biersch and other more beer-centric spots puts this place lower on the recommendation list, but it is definitely worth a try.

I really liked the atmosphere here. The building is of old red brick and wrought iron, the floors of antique dark wood and the furnishings appropriate to the overall look. Downstairs restrooms and limited parking in the Convention Center area make it a tad tougher than it would be further out.

Selection is mostly from the bottle although Oberon was noted on tap along with the more usual suspects. Outside courtyard seating makes this a bit more appealing than it would be without it. Worth a visit.

This place I originally frowned on adding and reviewing due to lack of selection. Well maybe I hit a bad night when server didn't want to rattle off beers or they improved, I don't know which. This is an establishment by a very well established restaurant businessman known for fairly high scale and good food. This place doesn't disappoint. The food is barbeque and Cajun in style and very good. The atmosphere shoots for a old style pub and succeeds on an upscale level. Expect to see convention/hotel people and power lunch/dinner types. The food and beer prices are similar to others in the Convention Center/Arena District. The bottle beer selection is good with things like Anchor Steam/Sierra Nevada Pale/CBC Pale/Great Lakes Elliot Ness/Sam Smith Pale/Lindemanns Framboise/Chimay Red/Pilsner Urquel and surprisingly, Traquair House. The tap selection is standard Guiness/Harp/Bass with Oberon added. Very good single malt scotch and small batch burbon/Irish whiskey selection and cigars as well. Pricing of the beers tend to be .25 to .50 cents higher than the nearby Short North spots. So as a regular destination, I would not go to often, but as a change of pace and for business and out of town, this is a great spot, if a bit small.
