Poured from a 330ML bottle

Great amber color, very thin head

slight malt nose , getting a little wet cardboard though

slight thin sweetness up front, reminiscent of fruit tea with artificial sweetener, caramel malt on the back end with some bitterness

very thin mouth feel

Purchased in the US, at some Whole Foods store. Can't remember which. Probably Los Altos. Anyway. @LaitueGonflable is very pleased I bought it because he got to share it with me back in Australia.

Pours a reddish, very pale rose hue, like a very light bodied red wine. Head is fine but filmy, leaving big bubbles around the edge, and a mesh over the top. Not a lot of lacing, but it leaves speckles here and there. Not a bad look overall.

Nose is grainy and a bit lacklustre, with some organic rice characters that remind me of before-bedtime warmed sake. Certainly, there's a very Asian Rice Lager kind of character to it. And not a lot of hops. That's bad.

Taste is similar, with a coppery character, and a sweet thinness, giving a cloying sticky rice abasement that really crushes any good characters on the palate. There's metallic characters on the front, cloying and unpleasant sweetness on the back, with a hint of rotting odour. Urgh.

Feel is thin, but sticky enough to leave the unpleasantness around for too long.

Blech. I was willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, but the longer I drank it, the more unhappy I became. Perhaps @LaitueGonflable is not happy I brought this back for him. Maybe he would have been happier if it had stayed far, far away.

Really like the can design - raspberry red, kind of an unusual color for a beer can. "Japan's first micro-brewery" Really? I'll have to google that. The pour produces a huge off-white head on top of a crimson amber ale. Beautiful! Smells pretty good too. Rich and hoppy. Almost American IPA hoppy in the nose as well as a solid biscuity maltiness.

What a disappointment the taste is! It's not bad, but it's definitely not as good as the appearance and smell had me thinking. Totally, I mean completely lacking the bitter kick expected. It's almost like it's watered down. A little bit flavorful, but with kind of a nasty sour aftertaste.

When compared to the average can of beer found in the average convenience store (I got this at Circle K) here in Japan, this is quite good. And it didn't cost a whole lot more than the average beer either. Worth a try.

Pours a shiny ruby colour, clear and bright. Head is beige, nice and dense. Disperses to form a nice cloud with some fingers of lace behind. Great colour, great everything.

Smells very malty and nutty, with actually a not towards funk at the back. Rich English toffee malt with walnuts/marzipan edge. Touch of sourness as well, fresh cut grass, lucerne and black tea. Intriguing and enjoyable.

Taste is...less successful, in many ways. Taste starts off malty with a touch of English toffee to it, and contrives to go rapidly downhill from there. Flavour disappears, in essence - bland, grainy mid-palate with maybe a herbal touch to it, then a watery and bread yeast finish that lets go too soon. With the colour, and even the odd aromas, I expected a lot more flavour than this. Uninspiring.

Thin feel, mostly. A bit of presence on the back but just a watered-down grain texture overall.

A disappointment. I really thought there was something here, until I tasted it.

A: The beer is clear reddish amber in color and has slight hints of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that died down, leaving lacing on the surface and a ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: There are light aromas of caramel malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has light flavors of caramel malts along with hints of tea.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a bit thin on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I felt that this beer could be better if it had stronger flavors and a fuller mouthfeel.

a: really red; looks like an amber that has had some strawberry juice poured into it; light off-white head that fades pretty quickly, just leaving a light coating on the top and a bit of foam clinging to the side of the glass; some pretty visible movement with a few columns of tiny white bubbles floating pretty quickly up to the head

s: sharp hops; some floral and tangy citrus in the back of the nose; almost a little bit of a bloody iron smell; some sweeter malts; pretty strong and pretty enticing

t: dryer than expected; toasted malts are the predominant taste; fruity and floral hops are the overtones; finishes with bitter hops; a little thin, but still enjoyable

m: light body with light cloy and medium carb; could be smoother but for japan it is not too overcarbed

d: an enjoyable beer but could definitely have more flavour - worth a try but not worth going out of way for

A: Pours a clear garnet red with some hints of brown in color with light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall light beige head that reduces to an extremely thin film that covers the majority of the surface and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts with some light hints of dark fruit and tea.

T: Moderate to strong flavors of caramel malts with some moderate notes of tea. There is a very faint note of dark fruits and very little bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly creamy and thin.

O: Well balanced as the beer is not overly sweet or bitter, interesting with the lighter notes of tea. Enjoyable but not a beer that I would run out to find again.

L: Poured from a can to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a somewhat hazy consistency. There was an inch of off white, foamy, fairly long-lasting head head. Average lacing.

S: A so-so aroma of hops, toasted malt, and some caramel as well. Not an overly powerful smell.

T: Tasted of a fair amount of toasted malt, light caramel notes, a grassy quality, a bit of hops (not enough in my opinion), and a tinge of citrus (lemon). The problem with the taste is the same as with the aroma: It's simply too bland and underwhelming. Overall, this is a pretty watery, uninspired taste.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a slightly thin finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: Not a particularly memorable beer. Could have been better.

Paid an insane $4.69 for a single 12 oz bottle of this at my local Korean market.

Pours a deep rich red (no, not amber), almost like a passionfruit ice team in color. The head quickly dissipates, leaving no foam in the glass or lacing.

Taste is fruity, with little hops, almost like a Flemish red without the lactic acid overtones.

Mouthfeel is light on carbonation, not too thick, not too thin. Really nothing exceptional here.

Overall, a pleasant enough beer. I would drink it again, but I'd have to find a more economical method of purchase.

A beautiful deep red, with a huge but somewhat weak and short-lived head.

The initial taste is a blast of rich malt, toastiness, and what seems like a touch of hops -- during the first sip I had hopes for this beer. Sadly, that all quickly fades, and the remaining taste is really watered down and weak, with a funny artificial sourness, and just a tiny hint of the enticing initial impression lingering to mock you.

The mouthfeel was a little better; at least it had a slight amount of heft to it (not all that much, but better than the taste).

Maybe it's the fact that it was in a can, I dunno (I rarely drink canned beer), but this beer was really disappointing. Drain. Pour.

350ml can poured into a little hotel tumbler

Pours clear coppery brown with a small pale head. Little or no active carbonation that I can see. Color is nice. Smell is almost nonexistent, just a little soap.

Taste is a little soap, and some bland sweetness. Some slight caramel. Overall, unfortunately watery.

Mouthfeel is thinnish and dry. Overall...not such a great beer. Not a repeat buy.

330 ml bottle into glass. Date code of 80543 unsure what that means.

Pours a clear pretty Amber color, cream colored head, with decent head retention. Aroma and flavor is mild clean caramel malt. But not too sweet. Medium bodied.

Poured from 330mL bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: rich amber-red hue with a haze-free body and a good effervescence. Head poured one finger of frothy tan foam. Good looking!

Smell: sweet caramel malt aroma with a nice citrus bite. Nothing special, but nicely crafted.

Taste: sweet caramel malt flavor with a light bitterness and only the lightest hop flavor. Hops are a tiny bit citrusy and a little bit noble in character.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess. I like it.

Overall: a decent amber ale, if not spectacular.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium reddish orange with a fine, half finger ivory head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of biscuit and slight dry caramel malt, berries and a little grassy hops. Flavor is biscuit malt, red berries, bread crust; flavor drops off precipitously into a watery, grainy finish with light grassy hops. Medium bodied with light creaminess. An uneven attempt at a red ale. It looks very nice and the aroma is spot-on red ale malt, but the flavor is mild and finishes very attenuated. Nice lable too. A bit of a disappointment.

Not bad, not bad at all. Firstly, it looks awesome. Fantastic head retention. Haven't seen that kind of head on a beer that wasn't Belgian. It's red! Sounds obvious but a lot of red ales aren't. Some strawberry, caramel and dried fruits on the nose. Some mild hop action but thats not out of touch for the style. A fairly smooth drink with enough malty goodness to keep me entertained. A touch more bitterness might have been nice. A solid brew and my favourite from this brewery so far.
