Gem is a good all round beer.
I'd say half way from a golden to a bitter, or a lighter fruitier bitter.
The appearance is light golden brown, and there's enough life, but it's not over gassy.
The smell is of citrus hops, and a hint of honey (methyl phenol acetate, I've smelt this in some Trappist beers, and wonder about strains of yeast), this I find very pleasant.
The taste well rounded, and balanced, a dry finish that is refreshing.
The mouthfeel, possibly my own fault, room temperature might be a bit too warm. 55 (16 ish C)
If you are trying to tempt someone into real ale, then this might be a good choice. Chilled to start then warmer, to bring out more flavour.
