A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2014, so it's a little out of date. Acquired a while back from Morrisons. The label calls it a rich, ruby-red ale that could rival red wine.

A: Poured into a straight pint glass. A deep coppery-brownish colour with slight floating sediment and good carbonation. Forms a decent head of frothy off-white foam that lasts for a moment before dissipating.

S: Aroma of mild roasted malt with hints of subtle dried fruit, grain, ale yeast, faint brown sugar and stewed leaves. S'alright.

T: Tastes of fruity malt with a slightly sweet character and a lingering finish. Notes of roasted grain, dried fruit, faint brown sugar, ale yeast esters, subtle earthiness and stewed leaves. Perhaps a twinge of cardboard in the background. A delicate malty sweetness, followed by a subdued, leafy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of dark, fruity malt, ale yeast and stewed leaves.

O: Decent if not outstanding. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a balanced blend of darker malt, fruitiness and faint hops. Pleasant body. Smooth and goes down alright, but a bit forgettable. There's not enough there to hold your attention - no need to rush out and track it down.
