I had this beer in the taproom in a pint glass the beers are poured quite cold at this brewery
Look: nice color, slightly cloudy
Smell: pleasant malty smell, not sweet like many beers
Taste: the first few tastes are very bitter but the tongue quickly adjusts, really nice after taste
Feel: nicely carbonated, kind of bouncy for an ale
Overall: a very nice Pale Ale

Good little offering form SPI Brewing... SPI Btewing celebrating 20 years this year... Had for 15 in glass Sunday morning football. Nice lacing, faint malt, nice floral and some piney notes IBU was around 51... Good alternative and always fresh when your on SPI

This seemed like a standard pale ale, not much to rave about.

First, it was served too cold in a chilled American pint glass. I let it warm up for a couple of minutes.

To me there was not much to the aroma even after it warmed a bit.

It had a mellow hops, a little on the dry side. There was a citrus flavor that I could not pin-point. There was a grain/cereal maltiness in the background.

Overall it was good, but not the best pale ale I have had. I would probably give this beer another chance.

*I also tried the stout, and like the stout, this beer had a watery fell and taste.

Poured from the tap this one is a very clear Golden-copper in color, topped with an off-white head that fades gradually, leaving the thinnest of filmy heads.

Huge rush of Cascades on the nose. Malt profile seems a little thin, but there's a biscuit-y malt presence and a fair amount of yeast.

Zesty and sprightly on the first sip, the flavor imparts a blend of golden apple and lighter citrus. Very aromatic, but with a very low, lingering hop bitterness relative to either APA or American IPA*.

Lighter-bodied and highly drinkable, Padre Island Pale Ale opened up remarkably as it warmed, having been served ice-cold in a Libbey pint from the outset. This is a tasty and well-executed brew that I look forward to having the pleasure of drinking again!

* Note: The menu states that this beer is "An American version of an I.P.A.", and indeed I found it closer to a British IPA in character than either an American IPA or an APA, but for most contemporary drinkers and Beer Advocates APA works just fine as a style classification.
