Industrial space on the main histroic strip in North Kansas City. Colony itself is dedicated to coffee and craft beer with somewhere between a half dozen to a dozen taps. Coffee bar is quality as well. Adjacent to Colony and sharing an interior door, is a small, intimate concert venue. Staff is a little all over the place, but seems to focus more on the coffee side of the house in terms of knowledge and recommendations. Beer selection varies widely.

Interesting venue in North KC, an area i’ve never been to, despite many trips to KC. It was a coffee shop up front with a ping-pong table, adjacent music venue, with a small bar in the back. There was a cozy little area up front with a retro couch and chairs, a small endtable decorated with a nice little glass terrarium.

The beer selection was 2/3 guest taps, only 3 house beers out of the bunch. They were all of good quality but the selection was limited. DDH NEIPA, coffee Kölsch, and a Mexican wheat. Half pours were available. Most of the bar crowd were local mug club members on a Sunday afternoon, post Chiefs win.

Service was quick and friendly, this was an interesting hybrid locals hangout space. Not sure there was enough there for me to return beer-wise, but I would if in the area again someday to check out Cinder Block and Big Rip, not to mention the local BBQ from Hawg Jaw and Smokin' Guns.

Not a huge menu or beer selection. However, this brewery is exactly what the Northtowne needs to stand out in the local KC beer scene. They are eccletic, experimental, and damn good at it. What they lack in location they excel in quality.

these guys started as a coffee shop and craft bar, small and minimal inside, way more coffee shop vibe than bar, with some sparsely occupied wooden tables around the front and a long bar in the back behind the coffee counter, just a few draft lines. i used to come in here for their excellent cold brew. then they knocked out a wall and put in a small stage for a little concert venue and started to have live entertainment. this growth likely funded the small brewery, which now exists in the back behind the bar. they even put in a kitchen back there, although i didnt have time to eat here. they had a really impressive list of house brews, and still some cool guest drafts as well. i was amazed how many of their own they had working, and how creative all this stuff was. vision quest was one of my favorites, a beautifully done carrot cake cream ale. i also enjoyed their coffee kolsch, which i think is sort of their house beer or flagship, and a couple of sours. there really is a lot of innovation happening here. its a comfortable space to hang out, the beer is great, the service is solid, and the dude making the beer is both cool and competent. i will return here probably every time my travels take me to kansas city, its got a great vibe and the beer is amazing, especially for how new they are, definitely check it out if you havent yet!
