Brilliant golden appearance, with scarce and not too compact foam.
Almost anonymous smell, macro-like, with some malt, and nothing else.
The taste is almost useless. No. It is useless. Well, with some efforts, you can taste the malt, and also some hop in the aftertaste-
But why spend efforts in this useless beer?

A darkish golden beer with a small head that leaves lacing on the glass.

Smell is grainy with clean pilsmalt notes, maltiness is low. The smell is somewhat vegetables. Hoppiness is low.

Taste is clean with a good body and light hoppy whiffs. The vegetables in the smell are present and in my side-by-side comparison of Dutch pilsners this is the one that sticks out in this veggie taste. I never tasted it in this beer before. Bitterness is low.

For some reason I am fond of Gulpener, maybe because I don't find it so often in my local supermarket, maybe because the first crate I bought came with some tupil bulbs..
Appearance is typical for a pilsner, golden yellow colour with a two finger head, average retention, and quite an activity in the glass.Smells as any other cheap lager out there, this is not how I remember it, or I wasn't as educated in beer as before I join BA. Drinking it out the bottle played its role too.
Taste is better but nothing above the average, slighty bitter and malty.
Average thickness and carbonation on the body, leaves some dryness on the palate.
Overall, pleasantly drinkable but Gulpener has better ones to offer, then again if you just want a pilsnerer this will cover you. And as their slogan is "To the future" (where hopefully this beer wil improve a bit).

On-tap at Brasserie L'Anders, Haarlem, Netherlands

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that died down and consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Aromas of pilsener malts are present in the nose along with hints of floral hops.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has flavors of pilsener malts along with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink but isn't as complex compared to other pilseners.

Catch up rating. One of the better Dutch pils I’ve had, clear, crisp and sharp. Pale golden with decent white head. Normal pils aromas and taste. Better than Amstel and Heineken for sure.

Drank it from a can that I purchased at a wine shop on Haarlemmerstraat - "Chabrol Wines".

A: Drank it from the can so not exactly sure on its overall appearance, but I expect that it was pretty average.

S: Average smelling cheap lager smell - grainy and sweet with a slightly spoiled smell in there as well; not necessarily unpleasant but not necessarily good either.

T: Slightly bitter, grainy and yeasty with no hop to speak of what so ever; there's also a decent malt flavor that comes through at the end that made me give this one a 3.5 over the 3 you'd think it might deserve. Actually pretty decent if you're just lookin for something to wet your whistle and catch a cheap buzz - I would definitely pick it over an American domestic of the same genre.

M: Typical fizzy and slightly overcarbonated cheap pilsner style; light-bodied and thin like sparkling water.

D: These go down like nobody's business - line em up!

Brown 33cl bottle, the second Pilsner in a 'Pilsner/lager reviewing evening' 23 Oct 2010.

Poured into a 'Veltins' tulip glass. Regular Lager/Pilsner looks, golden, clear, bright and clean. The head (snow white) soon fell away though.

Gets my standard score of three for an almost odourless lager/pilsner.

A little sweeter than the normal Euro lagers and has some body compared to the major producers and many German ones.

A pleasant Pilsner and if it was sunny outside I'd have a couple before I had a proper beer!
