Pours a clear copper with a medium lived white head. Smell is mild hops and malt. Pleasant, but nothing special. Taste is grassy tame hops and balancing malt, but more like a pale, than an IPA. Feels like some alcohol flavor is creeping in. Overall, decent, and pretty easy drinking, but not too remarkable.

Served in a standard shaker glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.

Appearance: Rich amber color with a thin head and some strings of lacing

Smell: The aroma is of floral, lightly citrus hops layered over the caramel malt base.

Taste: At first the flavor is sweet caramel malt, then the hops come into play growing more intense over time but not too sharp. There is a bit of play back and forth between malt and hop but the mild bitterness wins in the end.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is medium bodied with light creamy carbonation. The finish is medium long and ends with hop bitterness.

Drinkability: Very drinkable, could do several of these. But this seems to me to be more of an English IPA style than an American IPA style.

5/28/09 notes. 16 ounce draft pour with beautiful foam cap that turns into some super sticky, creamy lacing. The beer itself possesses a great clarity. It is glowing, and its golden and honey notes give it a complete package. A great looking beer.

Smell starts full on the nose...soapy, long and soft, takes a sharp turn at points into copper territory, evens out into some crisp citrus peel and earth notes. Pleasing.

medium body gives way to some mud, a palpable yeast and grain presence. It grows into sugared grapefruit, becomes more crisp towards the back with a twinge of metallic on my tongue. Finishes clean with a fair amount of bubbling hop bitterness. Carbonation gives way, leaving behind a slight film of oily hop on my throat.

a soft beer, long on the tongue, and easy as pie to quaff.

I loved this beer on tap. It was served up in a regular pint glass and was the mid copper color with a little haze.

The nose was very nice on it. Had a mild head, and the hoppy goodness was great on the palette.

Can only find it in bottles lately here in texas, I would prefer this in the keg. To me it was a lot better.

This is one of myt favorite ipa's for texas.

Third Eye pours a bright amber into my Perfect Pint glass. The beer has leisurely carbonation and a light haze. A small eggshell cap slowly falls to a patchwork film. A bit of lace is left behind.

Pretty standard APA fare here. Lemon, grapefruit and pine ride on top of lightly toasted grain. The bitterness level is moderate and appropriate for the style. It lingers into the finish. In the mouth, the beer is medium-light and slightly oily. Overall, an OK APA.

Acquire this one from TheManiacalOne so a big THANK YOU goes out to him!
Consumed 11/2

A: This beer pours a hazy copper color with a one finger of white head. Head recedes qiuckly leaving nice wispy lacing on the glass.

S: Nose is of caramelized malts and some citrus hops.

T: Taste starts with a fruity hop flavoring, leanding to a nice balance of caramel malts. There is a touch of breadiness in here and a finish of a grassy hop bite to the beer.

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, slick mouthfeel with a slightly sticky finish.

D: This is an ok beer, well balanced though nothing really jumps out.

Pours a medium orange gold with one-finger head. Decent retention and lacing.

More citrus than pine in the nose. Pineapple grapefruit dominates. There's a slight mustiness to the aroma as well.

Very bright on the tongue. More fruity than hoppy, though the hops build with each passing sip. Slight tartness in the intial hit that I was not expecting.

Mouthfeel a little thin, but pretty darn close to good.

Overall easy drinker on the golf course as the weather starts to cool.

12 oz bottle acquired through a trade.

A- Third Eye pours a slightly hazy amber with a white head that settles quick and stays at about 1/4 of an inch. No rising carbonation.

S- the brew has a well balanced nose, hops are definitely prominent but it sports a very structured malt character.

T- Same goes for the taste, semi-sweet malts are present and round. The hop character is mild and very fruity. Some vanilla is detected, along with nuts, citrus, berries and smoke/wood.

M/D- Average mouth feel, more on the weighty side, tongue tingling bubbles. I dunno if i'd seek this one my opinion, this is a pale ale that needs to have more hops added to it to complete its very confusing name...

A: Clear honey color, sudsy white head. Little retention, no lacing.

S: Pine, woodsy hop smell. Faint grain, caramel malt.

T: Pretty good balance. Caramel malt sweetness is definitely there, grassy or maybe earthy hops balance it out. Hops are strong, but not overbearing. Malts linger in the aftertaste, pretty smooth beer.

M: Great body, not too carbonated. Hop oils on the tongue.

D: A good pale ale. Bought a six pack of this stuff to try it out, and it doesn't suck. So, drinking the remaining five won't be a problem. The malt flavor from this is pretty nice, and a nice hop presence.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

A: Standard IPA coloring, half finger of head that dissipated with carbonation apparent. Decent looking brew.

S: Not much on the nose for an IPA. I pick up a hint of hops with some biscuity maltiness as well.

T & M: For an American IPA I think this about as tame as it gets. Hop profile is there but not what I would expect. Finishes a bit on the flat side and the mouthfeel is the same as well.

D: Drinkable, but I don't think I'll be having this somewhat bland IPA in the future.

Out of my growler filled at the brewery this beer was a slightly hazy orange/gold color with a frothy white head two fingers thick. Good retention and scattered bands of broken lacing. The aroma was fairly standard but pleasant, floral hops, some piney hops and a crisp pale malt note underneath that. The flavors were fairly average, sharp and bitter hops with caramel malt mixed in and elements of citrus zest in the background. Nothing unpleasant but the volume needed to be turned up. The mouthfeel was smooth and a little oily, the carbonation adequate and the body medium. Nothing great but it was fun sharing it with friends.

A darker amber color with some disturbingly chunky sediment deposits lurking and sinking to the bottom. The nose is doughy and floral; perhaps not the freshest can I have here. I thought it was a pale ale when I wrote notes for this, I didn't know it's considered to be an IPA. So, in saying that it tastes like a weaker IPA, I guess I was right. Smooth throughout with a moderately bitter finish. Not life, or diaper, changing.

A: Deep gold/amber color with a slight haze. Poured a 2 finger white head that dissipated to a skim. Lightly decanted throughout.

S: Floral hop aroma; citrus and grapefruit. Hay and bisuity pale malts.

T: Malts again more dominant than floral hops. Not as "puckering" as some APA's; the malt alos being much more pronounced - its good flavor.

M: A big malth beer; fairly full[-bodied. Carbonation is in good balance. Smooth in the finish with a lingering resiny coating.

D: Drinkable enough - especially if you can appreciate a APA that is more balanced and flavorful than the hop bombs out there.

Pours a golden amber color with a thin head and lots of lacing. Smells of light citrus and not much else. Taste is good, but not intense like an IPA should be. Malt balances the hops well, but its just not a powerful beer. Easily drinkable, and enjoyable with a meal.

Man, this one is a dissapointment.

A-Pours a hazy golden color with a medium off white head that quickly dissapates to a thin film on the beer. Great lacing though.

S-Very VERY dull. Man nothing going on here.

T-A very off weird flavor. Very disspaointed. Glad I got this one on a mixed sixer. Not that much of a waste. Just a faint dull off flavor of hops and alcohol. Not even that bitter. Hmmm...

M-Not a bad mouthfeel but it's null now.

D-I wouldv'e recomend this or even have another one of this so called American IPA.

A nice honey color and citrusy smell immediately readies the senses for a great IPA sampling experience. The lacing is consistent and has good stamina to the bottom of the glass. Unfortunately all of the attractiveness of this beer is not held up much past its good looks. The beer leaves me with a dry and bitter after taste, the dryness is my single greatest pet peeve that I just can't get over. The flavor is not as complex as many IPAs I've sampled already this spring. The citrus notes fly solo with very few floral notes. Of course the hops and alcohol are there, but they just seem out of whack. Overall the beer is not bad, it's just not what I would consider to be the crème de la crème of available American IPAs (as it's price tag may have suggested).

Served on-tap at Whole Foods in Milwaukee, WI. Pours a bright golden body with a white head and excellent lacing. Aroma is a good hit of piney hops. Light bodied and crisp, this beer has a very light malt character and medium sized hop aftertaste. Just what I like from a Pale Ale; a good amount of hop aroma and flavor without the round-house kick to the tongue.

A - Pours a clear orangish-golden color with a big sticky, frothy, just slightly off-white head. Lots of carbonation rising within. Leaves nice lacing as the head recedes. Retains a nice cap throughout drinking.

S - Citrus aromas up front that remind me of a blend of grapefruit and tangerine. Fairly strong bready/biscuit character in the mix as well. Sweet malty backbone.

T - Has a floral, grassy, and citrus hop character with a sweet, caramel maltiness balancing it out. The biscuit from the aroma is definitely present in the flavor as well. Finish has a mild bitterness. I like the flavors in the beer overall, there's really just not enough of them there. A bit mild flavor-wise overall, and just doesn't really stand up to a lot of other IPAs.

M - Medium to light body with a slightly watery quality and moderate carbonation.

D - Pretty easy drinking beer overall, although its just fairly bland compared to many other IPA's and even pale ales. Not overly impressed with this, and probably wouldn't seek it out again.

Thanks to the incredible woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a deep golden color with orange hues and a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very hoppy, a bit of citrus. Taste is big on hops, dry, considerable bitterness, some malts kicking in at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.
