12 oz. Bottle
Pours a nice yellow color, nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, citrus. The taste is hoppy, malty, citrusy. Medium body, nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

Pours a rich caramel color with a light beige head. Aroma has notes of caramel and citrus. Flavor is full and malty, with grapefruit and a mildly hoppy finish. Overall this is a rich and hearty pale ale. Maybe not a perfect representation of the style, but an enjoyable beer for sure.

12 oz. can poured into willibecher.
A- Auburn and hazy. Off white head doesn't stick around very well.
S- Caramel malt. Hop is dull, earthy, and a little piney.
T- Sweet, bready, and caramel. Hops are subdued, yet piney. Really malt forward.
M- Medium light body. Sweet wet finish.
O- Not great. Too malt forward.

I love this beer on tap at the brewery in Durango, but their third party brewer that brews and cans the beer for them is very inconsistent. The last six pack I bought of this has a diacetyl off aroma and flovor (buttery). Had the same thing with a batch of Steam Engine Lager, really a shame, it covers up the grapefruit aromas and flavor that I love. Bottom line, enjoy this one at the brewery if you get a chance, it's an outstanding beer. Here's to hoping Steamworks will get their own bottling line soon!

APPEARANCE: Pretty orange color, bordering on being more yellow-ish or straw colored…definitely living up to the name Pale. A nice, frothy, off-white head has about a half-inch on the surface of the beer for a good 30 seconds. It then fades, slowly, into a micro-head, about one bubble thick, in the center of the glass with those frothy bubbles creating small slopes towards the edge of the glass.
SMELL: Piney and resinous with a touch of grass and a little citrus. Dank smell.
TASTE: Very herbal and earthy hop notes with a caramel malt to back it up. The caramel is pretty strong, but doesn’t detract from the big, earthy hops. Some grass and citrus get kicked around a bit on the palate, but the herbal hops run the show.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium carbonation, medium body a definitely on the dry side. The finish is bitter with a little more sweet towards the front. Goes down easy.
OVERALL: The earthy, herbal hop character is not what I was necessarily looking for, but it turned out to be a nice change of pace for me. This could be an excellent go-to throughout the summer, especially in the can.

12oz bottle. Poured out a golden orange color with a small, tan head of bubbly foam. It smelled of citrus, tropical fruits and toasted caramel. It tasted fruity and spicy with a nice burnt toast maltiness.
