had this one on tap at the brewery. I was shock that it was available this way as it is really strong beer. The color was a rich red and had a thick mouth feel. The alcohol was obvious from the aroma to the flavor. I think it pushes at 8% at least. I am glad i had a chance to try it but one was enough for me.

Blonde ales not to be cellared..unless abv exceeds avg range? An 8.5% Blonde? Sure! Best by Late Fall 2009..this is not late fall. This is not 2009.
A hazy golden goblet with interminable lacing..Pretty sexy. Malty and fruity profile - like a mixed berry thing going on. Drinks pretty smooth, alcohol present and berries blooming. Vaguely reminiscent of a Belgian with the esters. No hop qualities..long since faded out. Good beer, though, aged well..

Tap poured into short stemmed goblet. The printout at the bar said it was 8.5% abv. At $8 a pour, I hope they were right. Consumed 12/26/2009.
A: Honey brown. Pours little to no head. Fine CO2 trails from bottom of goblet. Sticky white lacing left around whole goblet.
S: Sweet light malts with banana and melon. Crisp lemon peel.
T: Sweet malts are followed by green apples. Citrusy and a very light hop crispness.
M: Light on tongue. High CO2 leaves prickly feeling on tongue.
D: Very drinkable, light on palette, and very crisp.

On tap at the Farmhouse in Emmaus, PA, served in a pint glass. This was a bright yellow beer and reminded me of North Coast's Pranqster. Unlike most Belgians styles, this was very crisp with of a lot of earthy white pepper and coriander notes. It's not so smooth and those spices dominate the beer and cover any subtler yeast or malt flavors. Not a bad stab at a strong Belgian pale ale.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a tulip glass while listening to Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.
A - Pale, golden with a gigantic frothy white head.
S - Some yeast, spice, a burst of hops, malt, bread, overripe apple, raisins
T - Carbonated bitterness which turns into a sweet, pleasant aftertaste. Raisins, a bit of bread and malt, apples; cinnamon; warmth at the end with a slight bite of alcohol
M - Medium mouthfeel. The carbonation doesn't linger as much as I thought it would
D - This is no session beer but it's quite nice.
Overall, I like it. Even though the drink by date has long passed this seems to be a beer that will age well. The head on it is amazing and the beer itself reminds me of Orval just a bit. Decent.

750ml bottle into goblet on 9/22/09. Thanks to FooFaa for sharing.
A - Poured a hazy pale golden body with moderate carbonation and a thin quarter inch ring that reduced to a patchy film and some spotty lacing.
S - Fruity aroma suggesting apple and lots of citrus character with a hint of spiciness. Subtle alcohol notes also emerged from underneath the sweetness. Sweet malts with a slight toasted grainy character and honey sweetness. Floral notes also emerged in the background.
T - Like the aroma, the flavor is very fruity and sweet with a syrupy honey presence. Lots of fleshy fruit akin to apple and pear, as well as some citrus character. Minimal spiciness suggesting mild peppery notes, although there is a touch of earthy yeast in the mix. Finish is quite sweet.
M - Medium body with a syrupy texture and pretty soft carbonation. Mild alcohol heat on the palate. Finish is sweet with some residual spiciness on the back of the tongue.
D - Easy drinking for an 8.5% ABV brew, although this was prehaps a bit too sweet overall. Still, I found this to be quite tasty and flavorful.
