not sure i how i havent reviewed this one until now, swear ive enjoyed it before on more than one occasion, anyway, maybe my memory isnt what it used to be, but this one is fire. usually its the hoppy stuff that draws me to this brewery, they kill it with those, but this is exceptional, way ahead of the curve, and a wonderful wintertime pint. a cream stout with coffee and vanilla beans, beautifully executed, black and shiny and super well refined, slick and substantial but not heavy to drink, and a nice robust roast o9n the java but without excessive bitterness or any apparent acidity to me, fresh all the way too which is huge. its also not overdosed on the vanilla which seems like an exception to the norm these days, its an accent and adds a little richness but thats all. aroma and flavor on this are about the same, some chocolate malt in there with the roast and the vanilla addition but this isnt a sweet beer. the coffee is all through it, dark chocolate with it, nice fresh roast on the bolder side of things, a little old school but its clean, and there is nice compatibility with the roasted grain in this. its smooth and flush and fuller feeling but it doesnt pack weight, fermented to darn near dry, and with just the whisper of vanilla. a subtle maple undertone, maybe even a flash of something resembling hazelnut, but the simplicity is part of what makes this. rock solid base beer, extremely well reinfed, this is easily one of the best beers these guys make, and thats saying a lot! ideal winter drinker.

Pours a nice black body, with small beige head. Nice lace.
Really nice aromas of coffee ( medium roast). Chocolate and oatmeal with cream.
Taste as simiar.with luscious chocolate to the fore.
Great creamy, silky mouth feel.
Fantastic beer at 5.5%.

Growler closeout from Albertsons. What a deal! Nice fluffy head, dark brown body. Coffee bitterness in the aroma, roast grains/burnt toast and semi-sweet chocolat in the flavor. Almost chewy body. Big, thick, flavorful stout.
