Deep hazy and veiled amber/orange color with light activity. Foamy and light creamy beige 2 finger head, lasting around 5-10 minutes, with average legs. Swirl reaction is poor. Flavors of toffee, pears, wild berries, spices, cinnamon, apples, barley, with herbal and floral hops. Smooth full body with a sharp lasting crisp. Strong strength finish, a bit dry and vinous, mostly estery with a chaga mushroom feel, ending with a minty and tea like leafy effect. Also quite bready but a bit too boozy, the alcohol isn't well hidden. Highly sugary, the maillard effect is too strong for the style, closer to a red ale but burned to bananas. So it doesn't really feel like a Tripel, more like a Dubbel or Weizenbock, with lots of spices indeed, which is the real highlight of this brew but the balance is not there. Though it makes a nice appetizer with all that richness. Almost syrupy, the freshness takes a hit. Overall good quality craft, mostly to be used in cold weather from the strong warming sensation.
