The colour is dark brown, the three finger head is airy and brown. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing on the glass.
The smell is bittersweet and very roasted, almost burned. Hints of chocolate and coffee drops.
The taste is balanced with semi-sweet roasted malt, pumpernickel and warm alcohol. Passing liquorice, brown sugar and smooth bitterness. Medium body. The aftertaste is a bit sweeter with prunes, charcoal, candied apples and toffee. Elegant finish with toffee, dark chocolate and ripe red berries.
The carbonation is strong, the few bubbles are sharp and short-lived. The liquid is medium smooth.
A solid English stout.
