From the bottom of the can: "21285 12107119 HOLLY JOLLY"
Appearance: The body is murky brown with hazy shadows visible through it. The head is medium-short in stature and has a tobacco stained yellow-white color. It has good retention.
Aroma: Clove comes through up front with a hint of toffee and roasted chestnuts. After a while a pleasant cinnamon scent starts to emerge. The clove aroma is the strongest in this bouquet. It smells a lot like being in a Christmas Market.
Taste: Much like the aroma, the clove comes through first. This is followed by a soft flavor of ginger and a very subtle brown sugar flavor. The flavors are nice but feel a bit muted. The aftertaste has a bit of a toasted or burnt cookie flavor which is nice.
Mouthfeel: The beer has an upper-medium mouthfeel that is very smooth and easy to drink. There is a light bit of sweetness that goes unchecked by the lack of bitterness or heat in the beer but it still remains an easy drinking beer.
Overall: The can states that this is a "7.2% ALC / VOL" beer and it does a good job of hiding the alcohol. For a Winter Warmer it shows no alcohol warmth. The label also states that this "is crafted with ginger, cinnamon, and clove" and that it is a "Gingerbread Ale." The ginger doesn't seem to come through but the clove definitely does, and the cinnamon creeps in very softly. As a whole the beer doesn't really give off a gingerbread character but it still manages to smell and taste Christmas-like which fits. It's worth putting this beer in something like a mix-a-six or having a single pour along with other drinks. I could drink it again but it wouldn't be something I'd buy a full pack of.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Capital Ale House - Innsbrook, poured into a snifter glass. Had a dark, mahogany brown color and a mostly cloudy consistency. There was a half inch of creamy, off white, somewhat long-lasting head. So-so lacing.
S: A decent, but not brilliant, aroma of gingerbread, malt, caramel, bread, and spices.
T: Tasted of little bit of sweet malt (present throughout, though subtle), some light bready notes, a bit of spices (cinnamon and cloves), a good shot of gingerbread (the main attraction), and a hint of caramel. Not a bad flavor, but it definitely needs a bit more power. Still, it has its charms.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An uneven beer, but it has its good points. Worth a look.

This beer was unexpectedly good. The gingerbread is not over played. Well done.
