This is what they call AAL BMC fizzy yellow (dark) beer. The ice effect pulls off a little bit of the still plentiful water to give it a less dilute appearance, hence the darker yellow. Aroma was ghastly. So much rubbing alcohol. Throw in some aluminum too.

Taste was just super hot, a little bitter and metallic. Not really anything in the way of hops or malt to get in the way of the alcohol which drinks like it is 14% and dry hopped with aluminum foil.

This shit was terrible even when super cold.

The CANQuest (TM) glugs on and when I first saw this upon opening a Chazpackage, I exclaimed, "I won't like this!" to which he replied, "Aw, I betcha you will." In a Pig's Eye, I will!

Nothing from the CAN, other than the now-identified Pierre "Pig's Eye" Parrant headed downstream.

I am going to (partially) default to Greg Koch on this one. I poured and typed in combo as quickly as I could and the bone white head still fizzed its way out of existence before I got this meager bit of data down! This is NOT a fizzy yellow beer for sissies, however. This is a beer only fit for Cybermen! It was a deep yellow with NE-quality clarity and zero carbonation. Nose smelled heavily of grape bubble gum and the heavy treads began to sound on the other side of my fence. Ice?!? It had better be ice cold to even be palatable! It tasted of grape everything - bubble gum, popsicles, blow pops. Unnatural, at least until the transformation takes place. Suddenly, it was perfect. You, however, are an imperfect human and will be assimilated! I'm finished and the sooner this finishes, the better. Aaarrgghh.

Pours darker than expected, I guess I was expecting something like the pilsner, but anyways, could possibly be confused with a beer better than it is based on the dark gold color as opposed to the expected straw thin yellow, nonetheless, no head or lace or retention to this. Aroma was putrid and rubbing alcohol like. It was just alcohol and metal.

Taste, more alcohol and metal, just all I could pull out of this one.

I don't know how anyone else rated this as high as they did, to me, it was just terrible. Even when these were cold, the alcohol just cut right through it. I've drank OE at like 75 degrees, and that was even better and hid the alcohol better than this one.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume II, Issue III:

Ice beer is one of those oddball lager styles that seems to have lost its way when it comes to popularity, so it is interesting to see a small beer marketing company have one in its portfolio. Minimal white lace, bright and clear yellow liquid. Slight twang from the fermentation, which is known to be present in the American Ice Lager. Same goes for flavor of a hint of green apple and cooked veggies, but it seems the bite from the carbonation adds a cleansing carbonic acid twang to clear both flavors. Very crisp and light-bodied. Minimal malt flavors and hops are pretty hard to pick out other than a dull bitterness in the back. Just a hint of graininess with a sting of alcohol in the dry finish.

Not bad for what it is, on par for the style and drinkable if you don't mind an easy no-brainer beer.

Poured ice-cold into a pint. This one is darker in color than your average everyday fizzy, yellow macro brew, pouring a fairly clear (but by no means brilliant) solid golden-yellow in color, and topped with an off-white/light khaki head. The head settles after a while leaving a touch of lace. This would be promising if not for . . .

The aroma. The aroma here is best described as lightly-medicinal, nondescript-chemical, metallic, aspirin, astringent, somewhat alcoholic and somewhat malty. In all fairness, while worse than many of the more palatable macros, it's not much worse than the bulk of the fouler ice beers and malt liquors that I've gulped-down in my younger days.

Sweet, sour, and lightly tangy on the first sip. Medium-full to full-bodied for the style -- at only 5.8%? This one had better be rewarding, and by rewarding I mean 'drunk-producing.'
Some light caramel and biscuit-y malt peak out from behind the bolder, nastier off-flavors of rancid cooked corn and booze. On the upside, the alcohol is immediately warming as this foul concoction envelops and coats the tongue and palate, inducing another gulp to try to wash it all down.

Mouth-feel and drink-ability are both better than average for the style, but altogether Pig's Eye Ice would have to rate just behind the curve when put next to the more palatable offerings from the big boys.

For what it is, Pig's Eye Ice is 7/8ths of the way to a good, cheap drunk. The rest will require some ingenuity on your part.

a: pours a darker than pale but not very dark yellow color with about an eigth inch of head that dissapears very fast leavingno lacing
s: very reminiscent of macro in the fact that corn grains are present in the nose, there is a slight aroma of alcohol in the aroma as well
t: sweet corn malts, no bittering flavors not a very balanced brew, there is alochol in the taste
m: light to medium bodied beer with not too much carbonation

overall, my friend picked this up cause it was $4.99 for a 12 pack, i really wish he would have picked something else up
