Visited with a friend on a recent trip to Detroit.
Tried the following:
Founders Solid Gold Premium Lager (draft)
Founders Galaxy Wheat IPA (draft)
Founders Golden Naked Stout (draft)
Beers ranged from good to great and the tap selection was impressive. Had a charcuterie board, meatballs, and pretzel and mustard to eat – everything was very tasty. Service was fine as we never had to wait long for drinks at the bar and our food arrived in reasonable time. Gorgeous patio here. The overall experience was excellent, and I would happily come back.

Pleasantly pleased to find that the Detroit location provides a nearly identical experience to the Grand Rapids location. It's significantly physically smaller, but still maintains a ridiculously large tap list of year-round regulars and tap-only specials. Food is great as well. The only drawback is the same one the Grand Rapids location has: seating is every man for himself so you have to be quick to snatched a table up. Place wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. It's just around the corner from the Masonic Temple, so make sure there's no events going on before heading down.

Went for lunch on a Saturday during a busy weekend. Curmudgeon's Better Half release. Seemed pretty busy for 11:30 on a rainy Sat.
One thing I really like about this place is how they structure their beer menu. They have 20-30 beers organized into classes, 1, 2, and 3 (sometimes also a class 4). Simple and easy to understand pricing for each of the classes. Options to pick sample size, full pour, or to-go sizes for each. Class 3 and above do not have samples though. I had a class 3, 8oz pour for only $6.50.
Food was good. Ordered the DECA(DENCE). It was the priciest sandwich on the menu at ~$15. Didn't even come with chips (cost $2 more). Tasted great and a solid portion. However, it was not worth the price so I'm knocking some points off for food.
They also have a decent size store on location with three coolers full of beer. This was a special release weekend, so I lucked into half a cooler of KBS alongside all the other beers.

Mid sized box of a place, with more then ample out door space when the weather cooperates.
They offer and extensive array of all sorts or their beers.
The service was a bit crankybet we did come about 30 mins from closing time.
Nothing too exciting, assuming you have had ample exposure to their generally very solid beer offerings....worth a visit if you find your self in the Motor City

I have been to the Grand Rapids original one several times. Always good food and beer. This was my first visit to the Detroit establishment. As expected the food and beer was very good. There is more service here than Grand Rapids. They still have the walk up to order our beer at the bar. We got our beers, found a table and sat down. Soon a server came by and asked if we wanted to order food. and later if we wanted another beer. This is not the case in Grand Rapids where you go to the bar or the window to order beer and food. We still had to go get the food but once I am siting, I would prefer to stay sitting. lol Hard to rate service since we still had to do a lot of the footwork. The service that was provided was good.

The mini version of Founders GR, in Detroit. Similar vibe to the original with lots of beer options and the quality you expect from Founders. Parking close kinda sucks. A worthy stop in Detroit.
