330 ml bottle, Firmabier - Pours dark brown with a slight foamy tanned head. Medium carbonation. Smell - Roasted malts, slight yeast. Taste- Light sweetness, dark stoned fruits, caramel notes, light alcoholic feel with dry aftertaste. Nice winter warmer.

Dark brown pour with little head. Smells of dark fruit, grapes, prunes, caramel. Tastes like dried fruit - figs and especially raisins - caramel, prunes, dark grapes. It has a slight metallic feeling and a harsh bitterness in the background that I can only describe as super-bitter grapefruit without the citrus part. Soft mouthfeel with a harsh metallic and bitter aftertaste, which I did not detect the first time I had this beer.

Unfiltered dark brown Quad. Aroma of dark malts, soft ripe fruit and warming caramel tones. a taste that is very rich and full. Nice balance between a big malty beer and USA hops at the end of the taste. red fruit and caramel sauce. nice cross over between a Belgian Quad with USA hop style.

I just picked up a bottle at the Mitra liquor store. I seemed interesting to me, because of the style. Not so many breweries from Holland attempted to brew a quadruple.

A – The appearance of the beer is quite red. The head is decent and light brown in color. The foam sticks to the glass like glue, very nice to watch.

S – Floral and pine up front mixed with some citrus, very nice and inviting.

T – A soft hoppy taste together with some nice sweetness; nutty, dry raisins and candy sugar.

M – Very nice, slightly sticking to my palate. Soft to medium carbonation with a soft bitterness in the end.

O – What I like most about this beer is the amount of courage that the brewer has put in. Its like a mix in styles; a double IPA and a quadruple. The taste is there fore quite extraordinary.

A: brown, with tanned and thick foam, lingering and leaving lace
S: caramel, yeasty
T: sweet caramel, toffee, dried plums and raisins, alcoholic sweetness
M: sweetness from alcohol lingers on front and back of my tongue , but high carbonation cuts down the cloying caramel sweetness

it's a solid sipper. very nice for a cold dutch summer evenings ;)

I am honored to carry the same name as this brewery, because they have made a lasting impression with Ongelovige Thomas.

The combination of a Quadrupel-like base with a roasty Stout/Porter aroma and DIPA-ish hop finish is an admirable goal in and of itself, but the execution is damn near perfect in this brew.

It combines the best of these three styles and leaves you wanting more (as opposed to some DIPAs or quadrupels which are just too heavy).

*When i get my hands on another bottle (or a couple) I'll try to give a little more detailed description as I'm typing this from memory.

On-tap at Jopenkerk, Haarlem, Netherlands

A: The beer is clear but very dark red in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that died down and left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of dark fruits are present in the nose along with hints of loch oil and citrusy hops.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but has a little more flavors in the way of dark fruits.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation andsomewarming from the alcohol.
O: The subtle amounts of citrusy hops make this quadrupel rather interesting. Considering its strength, the alcohol is well hidden from the taste.

Wonderful find at Arendsnest Pub in Amsterdam. After a month of beer touring Europe, the best was last. Also known as "Doubting Thomas", this is superb bier, from the Dutch who are best known for Heineken, Jopen has a champion with Ongelovige Thomas. The first sip is almost a religious awakening of the mouth. Perfectly balanced, hints of caramel, butter and dry-sweet, yes I said it, this is both, with a powerful alcohol kick camouflaged deep within such a sublime mouth shock. Like it's neighbor from Belgium, Gulden Draak, this fine brew gets better by the sip, almost to the point of melancholy staring at an empty glass. I can go on with obvious comparisons at the top of BA's Top 50 list, but until you've experienced this Dutch treat keep a spot on your Top list available.
