a real tasty rye beer here, a little bit bland in the context of some american rye beers, which are getting enormous and very intense. this is more of a subtle use of rye here, just a portion of the grain bill to give it a little character. pale copper in color, tall off white head with great staying power. the nose and taste are moderately forward on the rye, not spicy like some can be, but more of a dense bready thing, an earthen property, and extremely fresh. well hopped too, especially for a euro brew, which usually dont have much hops at all. this one has a distinct bitterness and pungent C varietal character. what i like about this is how well balanced it is, its not too much rye, not in your face, but distinct at the same time. also one of the more hop forward european ales ive come across, very much american in use of hops for flavoring. nice carbonation, fuller body, yet quite refreshing for what it is. if it were available regularly here, im sure i would buy it from time to time. its very well made.

On-tap at Jopenkerk, Haarlem, Netherlands

A: The beer is very dark yellowish brown in color and somewhat resembles apple cider. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of subdued citrusy hops are present in the nose - oranges and grapefruit seem to stand out in particular.
T: Te taste is very much similar to the smell and is citrusy and only has a faint hint of bitterness and slight hints of spices from the rye.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is really enjoyable - it's like drinking a maltier version of an Americn West Coast IPA without any of the bitterness.

From bottle at 2014 Atlanta Winter Beer Carnival.

Excellent appearance with great clarity very durable head, and a tan foam that leaves a well coated glass.
Great balance with a spicy front end and finish.
Crisp, medium body. Lively.

O: Strong recommendation for fans of rye ales.

11.2 ounce bottle - Bullock's Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.

Appearance: A darkish, tan-colored beer with a slim, scant, ivory-hued head.

Smell: A scent of moderately toasted bread crust and flaked rye with a thin edge of sweet-scented caramel to it. Hops give a little orange, a little grapefruit as well as some spice.

Taste: Sufficiently sweetish, caramel glazed maltiness, predominately toasty with a subtle undertone of rye and vague, mild nuttiness. Citrusy, spicy, minutely resiny hops with ample bitterness to balance things out. The carbonation is livelier than expected, but it only serves to keep things moving nicely and give a little bump to the beers overall spiciness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Subtle but rather enjoyable.

Dark amber color, beuatiful beige foam.
The smell is cereals and malty, with some lightly spiced note.
Easy in the mouth, malty start, then the light spicy notes of rye. Not bad.
Light, but pleasant, notes of hop.
Light body, very drinkable, short aftertaste.
Easily drinkable.

33cl bottle. Clear orange pour with a medium height white head with good retention. Smells like honey, citrus and pineapple. The taste is more bitter and dry than the aroma suggested. Herbal hops, some honey and citrus.

Bottled
Pours a very very light brown body with huge foaming thick white head that stays
Big rye & hops aroma
The hoppiest rye beer I've had and I think that creates a unbalanced conflictin flavour that is certainly interesting
Slightly to much fizz tbh

Whether this beer got much better over the years or I just happened to get a fresh one, I really enjoyed it this time. Sweet fruity aroma, nice rye spyciness and a well balanced bitterness. Very well developed rye pale ale that brings it all home in an unexited way.

A dark copper beer with a settling head.

Smell of citric hops with notes of red fruit, mango, grapefruit. A nice hoppy smell backed up by a full malty smell which is a bit dextrinous.

Taste is balanced between the hops and malt. The bitterness is not too high, but enough to balance the beer. The hops offer red fruit, grapefruit, mango and give the beer a nice citric hoppy taste. The rye adds a slightly nutty and fullness to the beer.
