The smell of this beer is something you'll love or hate, it smells like canabis! To be exact: Skunk weed, the Dutch canabis I smoked in the 80's.
The taste is pretty strong, spicy and herbal, a bold flavor, a little sweet and just a nod more bitter than sweet.
IPA will never be my favorite style, because I don't like lots of hops in beer, but I think this IPA is well behaved and more subtle than many IPA's I tried.

Hazy orange pour. Tropical fruit dominating the smell, with pineapple, papaya and cantaloupe, along with some pine notes. The taste is exactly what you'd expect from the smell - fruity and flowery, notes of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, resinous hops and a very nice bitter backbone.

The Mooie Nel IPA pours a beautiful amber gold, and develops a thick, creamy, off-white head, which settles in at 1/2 inch. The nose gets a big whiff of floral hops, citrus, and a mid-summer fruit-stand. As a hop-lover, I am enticed! Medium body with a nice, long, lingering bitterness on the palate. It laces well. The bitterness is balanced with malt, and notes of honey, apricot, slightly burnt sugar, and pomelo. It is totally moreish and totally delicious. I would seek to find it again.

Light orange with a lacing of foam, that slowly disappears into nothing. A dense flowery and fruity smell; lots of aroma hops doing their thing there. The flowers and fruits from the hops continue in the taste and get company from fruity esters as the beer gets warmer. A whole fruitbasket of flavours is present here: grapefruit, tangerine, pear and melon. A very soft and smooth mouth feel, probably due to the yeast and the oat used. Recently awarded best IPA of Holland, and I tend to agree....

Hazy, shin orange, small white head, but you're stuck with it a long while.
Sweet fruity smell, with tangerine, pomelo, rich juicy mango and peach, pineapple syrup, honey, light caramel, and weirdly, a touch of funk, something like.. cheese mold.
Big mouthful of hops, lots of melon, pomelo, canned pineapple, orange jelly, peach compote, a drip of lime, bathed in quite a lot of honey. Caramel malts to amp up the sweetness bar even more, but it's never gross or anything. The great fresh hoppy finish helps with that, leafy, bitter. There's still that small weird note, but not off-putting, something like stale fruit, for just a few seconds. Weird.
Aftertaste is really fruity, but still hoppy, a nice contrast of sweet tropical notes and rough grassy hops. Medium to heavy body, medium carbonation.
A solid IPA, far from stingy on the hops, with a few weird notes that actually kinda help it stand out from other beers, instead of ruining it. One more, please!

On-tap at Jopenkerk, Haarlem, Netherlands

A: The beer is hazy dark yellow in color. It poured with a thin off white head that died down and consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose - grapefruit seems to stand out in particular.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but there are strong notes of the underlying malts along with a light amount of bitterness. Notes of alcohol are present in the taste.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a nice IPA, but there is a little too much alcohol in the taste to make this very drinkable.
