Austrians answer to watery tasting american beer. Golden colored pour with small sized white head which collapses rather fast. Weak malty aroma with a sweet malty finish. Very thin-bodied and watery with some sweet malt and a rather crude bitterness in the finish. Drinkable, but there are better ones out there.

Brau Union Österreich AG "Schwechater Bier"
,5l can for ,99€ at a Turmöl Tankstelle in Salzburg, AT
"Mindestens Haltbar Bis Ende: 05.2018..." and sampled in 09.2017

Look: Clear golden body beneath a short head of bright white that drops shortly and leaves only minor lacing behind.
Smell: Limited aroma of golden malt with only the suggestion of some 'generic' hops.
Taste: The golden malt isn't distinctly grainy, nor do any hop flavors really show up. It's light in flavor but balanced, with a moderate bitterness that's enough to dry it in the finish.
Feel: Light-medium in body and lightly crisp and then smooth.
Overall: A basic Euro lager that falls on the less bitter and hoppy side without becoming sweet, or even sweetish, and maintaining a nice balance. In the end, however, it lacks the character needed for it to become a "more than one" beer.

33cl twist off bottle.

A: Lightish dullish gold, little head but reasonable rising carbonation.
S: Spaghetti O's like malt. Relatively weak in scent. Faintly horsey as well.
T: Very neutral taste. Not particularly flavorful or interesting. Between German and American Adjunct lagers in flavor.
M: Strangely though mildly astringent. Nice carbonation sting, smooth.
D: Boring but drinkable.

Pours a pale gold with a finger of head that slowly settles, minimal visible carbonation

Smells pretty one dimensional....malt. Very little hop presence.

Fairly neutral taste. Malt isn’t overpowering, just a hint of hops, mostly for the bittering aspect.

Below average level of carbonation. Fairly dry.

Middle of the road euro lager.

Though it is an Euro Pale Lager, the positive thing about it is that it feels a bit cleaner, you don't really feel any corn, the sick yeast or the skunk hops in it. It is not overcarbonated either. Better than the average sh*t lagers that you can buy, still you wouldn't want to go looking for one either...

.5L emptied into a Pokal.

A: Pours a straw gold with a fluffy 1-finger white head which receeds to a thin ring. No lacing.

S: Sweet malt and light hops, most likely extract.

M: Medium-light bodied with good carbonation.

T: Sweet barley malt followed by a sprinkling of hops, slightly sweet at the end. Dry, tannic aftertaste.

D: An Austrian budget beer, but not hateful. This beer has a bit of a bad reputation due to it's popularity among the destitute of Vienna. I would call this a decent table beer, something to have with a normal meal. I might buy a case of these for the cellar, just for that reason.

I drank this beer after an Egger beer. The Egger disappointed me, this one did not.

Poured in the same glass as the Egger beer, a simple drinking glass this beer looks a lot better. A big white head which stays remarkeble good. Some nice carbonation in the glass.

The taste is one of a typical euro pale lager beer. Fresh with some light citrus notes of the hop.

Worth trying this one!

Yellow-greenish in color, with an average white foam, not long duration.
Malt, hops, and hints of honey in the smell.
Malty taste, but even a decent bitterness, balanced. Hints of honey, camomile, hay.
Drinkable.
Quite long bitterness in the aftetaste.
Honest.
