I have heard a lot of hype about Ingenious, and even attended a few tap takeovers in bars around town. Basically, all to figure out...WHY? I wasn't particularly impressed with what I had at those various takeovers. Thinking when they finally opened, it would all click.

Well, so far they have lines out the door the few weekends they have been officially opened. I was able to make it up to the first weekday they where open. Tucked away in an industrial area in south Humble, this has that sterile industrial vibe that many newer breweries have. Open and loud with lots of TVs. A bar and counter to order at, with communal tables and plastic chairs. Kind of a generic spot, but if the beer is on point, something I have always forgiven.

Though, I can't really get behind their offerings. All NEIPA's, along with Milkshake IPA's, "pastry" stouts, and even vanilla coffee cream ales (I still can't believe this is a trend now). Really, this is not that much different from Saloon Door, as all you can perceive are all the flavor additives used. Let alone the 4X dry hopped shtick is not any different than the Miller Light "Trple Hopped" campaign. I have also tasted diacetyl in some offerings, along with carbonation issues (something I think should have been worked out long ago). Hopefully they can get these things straitened out, but considering the hype and lines, I would assume things like that would be taken care of.

Added Note: Saw they just released a PB&J Wheat as well, do they actually like beer, or do they just open the pantry and add whatever happens to be available? Taking off some points for selection as I really won't be able to find much I want to drink. I am surprised anybody could...

Service is fine, but they seemed to have issues with the POS system, and had my tab all wrong, I am sure they are working on that as well.

I don't know, they obviously make all the new instagramable styles all the cool kids want. Apparently I'm not part of that club, I don't see anything here particularity interesting, and at best they just chase trends that have started on the east coast and eventually worked their way here. I have heard they are doing a barrel aged program, and will look forward to trying that. Though, I am less than impressed on this ridiculously hyped new brewery as is.

Located in an industrial park approximately 20-25 mins north of Houston downtown, you won't find much around the area. It just seems like an industrial/commercial district with office buildings. Not much of a vibe to speak off as we were two of maybe 4 or 5 people at the establishment on a Tuesday afternoon. The building and the interior are somewhat unassuming. There really isn't anything that makes a building NOT look like your typical suburban office building in an industrial park and the interior is almost exclusively white walls.

Quality was good in that nothing look old or beaten up. There was just no character to anything. I really felt like I was inside of a repurposed paper selling establishment, with a cafeteria counter in the corner, except now that counter is where the bar area is and there is no food except for food trucks (which is nice).

Service was good, but I expected it to be seeing that there was almost no one else there.

Selection was all the trendy, hip cool stuff kiddos drink these days: NE IPAs and adjunct loaded pastry stouts. If you're into that, you'll like the beer but I tend to look for a bit more variety.

Overall, I was kind of disappointed in the place itself considering how well regarded and recommended it was. The brewery has no characters and the beers are all of the trendy variety. I won't be looking to come back here, but I wouldn't necessarily turn down a beer when in the mood for an NE IPA.

Located in a new industrial park near IAH, this is part brewery taproom, part Willy Wonka’s workshop. The stark white interior is slightly sterile but comfortable, and makes sense the experimental bent of its offerings. Plenty milkshake IPAs and desert influenced stouts - they even offered flight paired with Girl Scout cookies. Service is friendly, selected vast (including options to go), and most nights look to offer food vendors and games. Worth a stop.

This is a fun place! Their logo is a human brain, half pink and half green. This color scheme is throughout the place, even in the lighting.

This is also the first brewery that offers “beer topper” I have visited. This is made of frozen flavored beer and it is tasty and makes the beer look great!

Service was very good and the beers I had were great. Extensive selection.

Everyone was enjoying themselves. I would definitely go back.
