Arrived on a Saturday afternoon, got lucky and parked directly in front of the brewery (metered parking on street during the weekdays but not on the weekends. There are also some designated parking lots nearby.)

There is a guy at the entrance who greeted us before we walked up the stairs to the taproom. It could be for checking IDs, as CCSU is right down the street; we are obviously older so he didn't ask us.

The taproom is very spacious and bright, with large windows around two sides. Plenty of places to sit and plenty of room between tables. We picked a booth looking east over Arch street, and one of the 5 churches that I assume the brewery is named after. On the west side of the room was the long bar, and behind the bar were glassed windows looking into the brew works. Along the north wall is the wood fired pizza oven. Behind us were a couple of families playing with their younger children. Very multi-generational thru out the room. People were playing jenga and other games at tables, there were 2 large TVs with soccer and football on. The vibe was very relaxed and friendly.

There were 17 beers on tap, and in addition to the growlers there are 4 packs of pint cans available. You can get a 5 ounce tasting glass of every beer for $2-3 each, which I always prefer. Ordered a flight of 4 beers and a pizza. Service was prompt, the beers sampled were all very good or excellent, and the pizza was at our table in 10 minutes, fresh, hot and delicious! Nice not having to go outside to a food truck for a change.

After finishing our meal I picked up a 4 pack to go. Five Churches will definitely be my go-to brewery when I am in the New Britain area.

Comfortable room. Tanks in back. Large windows with nice views.

Nice variety

Everything I’ve had has been tasty. Wine available for non beer drinkers.

Friendly staff. Offered samples so I could get something closest to what I wanted. Cleared and wiped down tables - something I don’t see often enough in tap rooms.

Nice variety of styles.

Great selection on tap. Nothing in bottles or cans so I am not sure if they plan on doing this. They’re still so new. Pizza was good. What a genius idea to have a pizza oven right there. The pizza doesn’t even have to be THAT good and beer drinkers alike will praise it. It’s pizza in a tap room after all. Large space with good seating. You don’t feel like you’re on top of each other. Would definitely go back for some weekend afternoon beers.

Great spot that surely sticks out from the area it's in. Very nice inside and very clean. The atmosphere is great but maybe they could play a little louder music to get the vibe perfect - just my preference. Pizza is really good and there's a lot of beer styles to choose from. They also have Wine which is good if your significant other doesn't drink beer. They're still very new and are only going to get better.

A great place to go hang out at

Five Churches is a trendy looking brewery on the second floor of a downtown office building. Stairwell brings one up to a large open floor with the wood-fired pizza bar directly ahead and the beer bar across the room on the left. Long bar - seats about 20 - and glassed in behind it is the brew house. There are perhaps a dozen 4-seat tables scattered about the room. I believe there were 10 beers on tap and the one I had there, along with the 2 growlers I had later were excellent. Lively crowd, and top notch service. Fun time, will definitely be back.
