This is river (Hudson that is) outpost of Captain Lawrence Brewery.....there is a restaurant (Fin and Brew) a large out door bar (warmer months) and a kid centered arcade...all along the Hudson, with great views...outstanding food both in the arcade and upstairs in the restaurant....CL brews a flowin....Brewer Justin S has been tasked with the outpost output...this place is gonna kill it....with fine food and a great out door space..well worth a visit if you want to have a great time, fine food and great CL brews along the river

The only reason the vibe isn't a 5 is because IF you choose to enjoy sipping inside vs outside, the arcade is louder than the music. Weather permitting, enjoy the 8 outside taps. Sunsets were so intense you had to shade your eyes. Mano black lager was fantastic, kolsch was crisp and refreshing. Discounted growler fills at Happy Hour and a mug club coming. Met the Brewmaster McLean who confirmed yes, the equipment is Capt. Lawrence (founder is a partner here) but product is 100% River Outpost. There's even a "CL" on the barrel in the River Outpost logo. Nice...it's like a laboratory, just with homemade pizza and fresh seafood. Did I mention to sit outside?

I left CL's River Outpost Brewing with some very mixed feelings. Initially, when I saw the building, its location along the Hudson, the outdoor patio and tiki bar, and the restaurant upstairs, all looked inviting. Then I entered the brewery/arcade area and was assaulted by the din of kids' voices. The bar/ taproom area was sandwiched between an open arcade area to the right and what looked like a laser tag/ zip line or climbing room on the left. (At the risk of sounding overly old fashioned and accepting that the mores of today's society are much more tolerant of kids in bars - I think scabbing a bar and arcade together has taken things a step too far. It was the first time I saw children sitting at a bar. Unfortunate: but I guess there is a market for places that will entertain the children while their parents drink.) The beers I tried were ok, the service was fine, and I did not try the food, although I'm sure it was fine. I just can't see myself going back there... to modify a Sartrean observation, "Hell is other peoples' children."
