Pours a dark brown amber.

Toffee, caramel, and sweet.

Malt bill is strong here with strong sweetness, but a never ending bitter finish.

Medium-bodied, low carbonation, lasting bitterness.

Overall, definitely a swing and a miss.

32 oz growler poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
6% ABV

A - A firm off-white head rests on the beer after a long, tall pour from the cylindrical growler. A copper-hued amber colored beer lies beneath patiently waiting for the sinking head to cake the pint in lace.

S - Earth and citrus emanate from the beer with a restrained potency while amber malts offer traces of caramel sweetness and dry toast

T - Toasted amber malt starts dry and keeps pace through the beer barely pausing for sweet caramel notes to emerge among the hoppiness. Bitter is bigger than either citrus or earthiness as far as the hops are concerned though.

M - Medium-bodied and dry with a lingering bitterness, Big Red IPA balances it's dryness with toasted malt and hops for an appropriate finish.

O - Big Red IPA doesn't surprise or let down, rather, it stays the course of somewhat average beer churned through The Ram with a nice malt backbone but unimpressive hoppiness which isn't quite showcased as much as it is "there".
