I don't usually go for the chain brewpubs, but I have to admit, this one was pretty cool.

There is a bit of something for everyone here. I can see why hardcore BAs might not like it, but I think the place has value.

There is a sports oriented bar off to the right of the entrance, which was packed due to the Blackhawks playoff game. It has a giant (over 100 inch) TV screen on the wall above the bar. It is visible from anywhere in the space. This is a great place to watch a game, and alot of people are already on that script.

Straight ahead there is a counter, you can sit there and eat/drink, while watching the cooks do there thing.

To the left is a more casual/date night area with comtemporary decor and candlelighting.

I also noticed a private room throught there, but did not get to check it out.

I started with a 71 and then a Big Red IPA - I thought both beers were very good. For dinner I had the sirloin salad which was also great. I was there on Tuesday - pints are only $2.50 all day - quite the bargain.

If you are looking for a cozy local brewpub feeling - you will be disappointed. This is not what this place is, or tries to be. But if you want to get some good beer, and want to take some people who are not BAs this is a good bet. This place could also be a gateway to bring your maco friend into the world of microbrews nice and easy.

Service was above average, despite the crowd. I might actually try another Ram next time I am near one, this one was that good.

Can't believe I've never rated a RAM before. I've been to a handful, and the quality has been pretty consistent location by location. Since I'm most familiar with the Schaumburg location, that'll be the one I review.

The vibe and aesthetics are markedly like a neighborhood chain restaurant, although that's not really a bad thing. Chain restaurant aesthetics are bad when they're too aggressive--Applebee's is aggressively stupid, Red Lobster is aggressively ersatz, Buffalo Wild Wings is aggressively masculine, etc. RAM's have a little bit of a soulless prefab feel to them, yes, but they're not in your face about it--they don't make the waitresses dress slutty, bad music isn't blasting, and there's no kitschy crap on the walls.

The beers are consistent. I've never had a RAM beer that knocked my socks off, but I've also never had one that wasn't at least pretty good.

The food is maybe a step above your standard chain restaurant fare, and the beers are a step above, say, Granite City, or even a good number of smaller, non-chain brewpubs. Stopping by RAM doesn't generate the same king of enjoyable adventure vibe you get from checking out a new, completely independent brewery. But it does mean you're in for solid beer in a pleasant atmosphere.

All of the beers served icy cold whether they are an Oatmeal Stout or a pils.

Surprised on the lower ratings on this location; stop by on a Fri or Sat night, jammed. Rest of the time, steady. Must not be anyone taking time to review.

Have stopped here many times on the way to or from O'Hare. Great place for a beer, solid choices, not over the top, but good beer, good service, have always had that, and solid atmosphere. Nice outdoor patio, good merch, if you like. The $5 summertime growler fills were nice, too.
