Notes: Introducing KANKITSU, our Japanese-inspired Lager brewed with rice, green tea, lemongrass, lime, and dry-hopped with Motueka!

First we start with a blend of what we consider to be the two most flavorful types of malted barley on this planet: Golden Promise and floor-malted Bohemian Pilsner. Our house lager yeast and a healthy dose of rice to the mash provides an extra crisp and supremely quaffable lager.

The additions of green tea, lemongrass, and lime adds very unique & citrusy components to really round out the beer and provide an exceptional finish that keeps you wanting more and more. We're incredibly excited to share this with you!

16oz can pours a straw color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly, though it remains effervescent...mild citrusy aroma...flavors of lemon/lemongrass and green tea...bubbly and a little tartness on the finish...very refreshing and goes down easy.

16 oz can

Pours mostly clear straw golden. Sugar white head dissipates to lacing.

Smells of fresh grassy malts and citrus.

Flavor is of lime, lemongrass, and sweet rice malt with a hint of tea in the aftertaste.

Light to medium body, light tingly carbonation.

Interesting, flavorful lager. Drinks very easy. The flavor is unique. Would maybe have this again. It's not bad but a bit odd.

L: Pale and clear straw hue with a half finger stark white head dissipating to a ring with minimal lacing.

S: Lime and Lemongrass, hard to say which is more prominent. Rice malt also present.

T: Strong and crisp lemongrass amplified by lime. The tea is lost for me. It’s quite sour and there is a musty stone aftertastes soon after swallowed.

F: Crisp and clean malt, sour citrus, and a medium body with average carbonation.

O: Flavorful for a lager but a bit out of balance for me. Would love to see less citrus and enough green tea for it to have an equal seat on the palate.

Pours okay with a thick foamy head that dissipates quickly, effervescent, nice and appealing light straw color.

Goes downhill from there. Nose is light, consisting of one-note lemon and malty sweetness. Thin in the mouth. Flavor is crisp but very sour, mostly overwhelming flavors of lemon and lime, followed by an unpleasant tannic bitterness, probably from the tea.

Not great. Not even good. No idea how one could characterize this as a “Japanese inspired lager.” Nothing in it is reminiscent of Japanese lagers. Advertising it as a fruited cerveza style would have been much more accurate. It tasted like a corona stuffed with wedges of lime.
